I’m not anti RJ I’m anti dragging a mal formed roster year after year because a kid is a local feel good story and they don’t want to lose a press conference If the can’t get a deal for RJ then trade someone else. Maybe moving Scottie could bring a lot back?
I don’t see the 3 pt improvement or how the def focus translate when the def players can’t get on the floor
Why did the media include RJ in the big 3 type questions? Are they just casuals? I mean many players can’t give you 20 pppg inefficiently if you don’t care about winning the game. There were times in our franchise where we were so bad we needed them but we should be passed that now. Don’t let empty players anywhere near our roster unless it a microwave off the bench, imo.
What did we go through a horrible tank for?Gradey, Walker and CMB. ( they should be held accountable for not even losing well enough, tbh) Who are we invested in, ummm - seems like we re-signed all the players we tanked with for 3 more years…
Now draft is hit and miss, I fear Gradey is too poor defensively, maybe we don’t have anything with those guys - but there’s no organizational effort I can see to do anything with them right now. Seems like the org just used the tank to avoid criticism for failures.
Darko should immediately be fired for refrencing def improvement at the end of the year when other coaches were battling him for ping pong balls and he didn’t realize it. He thought they were turning a corner.
They fired Masai. What accountability beyond that do you need? Bobby literally said he's going to see how things fit and he's not going to shy away from a big trade, if needed. That's code for evaluation mode.
This presser is the first day of school. Cynical questions are still going to be met with defiant faith. Overall, as a day 1 Raptor fan, I think the quality of questions in these things has increased dramatically with the inclusion of RR, the Athletic writers and other podcasters. RJ's interview was excellent. Brandon Ingram went out of his way to tell everyone how RJ was much better than he thought he was. If Doug Smith thinks RJ is part of a big 3, and you look at who is on the team, it's not an absurd stretch to see it as that.
