Turner screwed up his long-term deal but at least he didnt get stuck on the QO. Not sure why so many people on here want Kuminga to be punished for his free agency timing and bad agent. As long as we get Melton and Seth i’m happy JK gets as much as possible while also Dubs having flexibility with trades and the team option. This should be a win/win.
Nobody here "wants Kuminga to be punished." Warriors fans don't want the team to overpay for a player and end up with an big unmovable contract. That kind of mistake can be the difference between playoff contention and being a lottery team. It can also cost you draft assets just to unload that kind of mistake. Fortunately, management properly assessed Kuminga's market value, stuck to their guns and called every bluff Kuminga's agent offered up. It would be nuts for any Dubs fan to not to be pleased with the job management did with this negotiation.
I agree with all of this. Its a great deal for the warriors (if my point about Melton/Seth still works out). I just think Kuminga’s agent has been so bad at his job that its caused alot of warriors fans to turn on JK a bit. Like Steph/Dray said though, once this stuff is done with and they are on the court, it all should be fine.
Perfect world Kuminga takes a huge leap and we use that team option.
But even without that (and the likely scenario), that contract could be perfect for matching an all-star level players deal while adding picks and MLE level contracts.
