I could understand not wanting to move Eason, as I think he’s the best/most valued player in the deal but calling someone coming off a finals mvp and second team all nba recently “not very good” while overvaluing your own role players makes it difficult to have a serious conversation. Pritchard’s last season is what you hope to see from Reed in a season or two.

I could understand not wanting to move Eason, as I think he’s the best/most valued player in the deal but calling someone coming off a finals mvp and second team all nba recently “not very good” while overvaluing your own role players makes it difficult to have a serious conversation. Pritchard’s last season is what you hope to see from Reed in a season or two.

If you find it difficult to have a serious conversation with someone who has different opinions than you do, then a basketball forum, a place to engage with people with different perspectives, is probably not where you want to be.

Sheppard and Pritchard are closer than that, especially for playoff teams, but the delta between Eason and Hauser is too large to fix.

Hauser is a 42% three point shooter that isn’t a defensive liability on the floor. I don’t see how he isn’t positive value when you have shooters that can’t defend making much more. Even a 32 year old D Robinson just got 16 a year.

I don't think making analogies to D Robinson helps your case. Hauser is a 20 mpg role player off the bench. Eason is probably the most sought after prospect on the T&T board.

You can't say a player isn't very good and then say that he's about to erroneously get a huge FA deal to lower his current value.

20M/year isn't a huge deal, its the going rate for a 4th-5th starter which Eason is/can be. His point is Pritchard is paid below market rate for 3 years, while Eason will be below market for 1 and market rate for 2

Pritchard's deal isn't much of a bargain. Jerome 3/28, DLo 2/11, Tre Mann, Tre Jones, Tyus Jones, etc. A backup PG at $7 per annum is market rate.

This isn’t true. All those players you listed have issues that led to them getting that. Wether it be injury history/missing a full season(Jerome/Mann), coming off horrible seasons (DLo/Tre), or having down seasons after being paid more previously to start(Tyus). What back up point guard has come close to a 8.5 ws or being in the top five for made threes? You pay more of a premium for shooting, either way for the numbers Pritchard put up his salary is pretty good and those names are poor comparisons.

Some reality about Payton Pritchard for folks that seem unaware.
He is the 213th highest paid NBA player locked up for 3 years on a very team friendly deal.
Looking across various impact metrics, he is ranked 23 in LEBRON, 55 in Darko, 65 in 2yr RAPM, 37 in MAMBA, 40th in EPM.
He had a TS% of 0.633 and a 3.5 BPM.
He was 6th man of the year.
He turns 28 in Jan. Oh, and he is always available . Take all that together he is the best player in this proposed trade and has the highest trade value.

I have Eason as comfortably more valuable than Hauser. While still rough around the edges, Eason is a long mobile big guy who defends and shows ability as a floor spacer, a very valuable commodity. Sheppard has more potential than Pritchard, but Pritchard is the best player in the deal now.

I get the direction of the trade,but Houston needs more value.
