I said all last year he's too herky-jerky and lumbery to guard 3s in the NBA.

The obsession with versatility is for Draft hype; the reality is you're lucky if a guy can actually play 2 positions.

I agree he's lumbery and it'd be hard for him to guard 3s. But I also don't see the strength in him to be a 4 full time either. Its not just about stretching the floor on offense, is he really going to be able to hold his own inside on defense? Especially when it comes to getting boards? I'm excited to see what he's been working on to grow into that big man role and how he looks.

To me he kept up with Luka and Wagner who both play the 3. Wagner is just as lumbery imo. He has the guard skills on offense and I agree with you about the strength. That's why I see him at the 3 longer term

We saw it once, last year for an extended run

So do I. I've been a proponent of Jovic at 3 since the beginning (which is why I wanted Wiggins out to get him as much minutes there as possible). So all this talk from him about being a 4/5 has really surprised me. Like I said, I think it's because he doesn't want to guard the perimeter. But this is pretty much a throwaway season unless Bam becomes NBA A'ja, so I'm all for exploring and experimenting with other things.

I'll be very shocked if he is a long term fit at the 4/5. If even Bam prefers not to bang with 5s, I'm very surprised by Jovic's belief that he can. But...Image

I think the big lineup with Jokic Bam and Ware is a well liked good idea to pretty much everyone but Spo depending on the matchup. He finally tried it briefly and it looked good then just said nah...Really should of used it against the Jazz massive frontcourt that one game we got hammered for instance among many others but he just wouldn't. So I don't think we'll see much of it, but we should.

I don’t see that at all! Jovic has never been a dribble handoff shooter.

If we are running DRob plays, it will be for Powell I’d think. Anyway, let’s see how it plays out.

Either way I’m stoked to have Jovic be a part of the main rotation - either as a starter or 6th man.

Powell will run it but Jovic should also get those plays as well. He knows the plays and its best to do so by removing the big out of the paint.

Looks like Ware gonna be the backup 5

Herro Davion/Kas
Norm Pelle
Wiggins JJJ/Simone
Jovic Keshad/Precious
Bam Ware

Is a sneaky good starting and team depth. Don't tell me this isn't a Heat ass roster  On paper you can't deny there's talent.

Jaime and jovic have looked rough.

Ware is playing well.

Fontecchio has some skills, he'll play. Hes akready better defensively than Robinson.

Fontecchio has good passing skills and high basketball IQ. Hopefully he gets to play a lot. I like the length and athleticism that we can put out there with our frontline.

I think the first preseason game was a positive sign of the team.
The defense looked better and the team played faster.

Jovic may fit better as a pf because he provides better spacing and plays fast.
I liked Ware and Dru Smith.
It will be interesting to see the rotation of pgs when they will be healthy.

Norman Powel lost some shots but he played well overall in his first game.
Wiggins seems ready for a big role this season.
I think he can be the #1 option, he is ready for this.

I think that this team will be good this season.
The chemistry seems better and the defense seems better.

Looked like we had the game pretty in hand until the bench scrub crew came through.

Hard to get a read with so many rotation players out, but we could probably pretty comfortably roll with a:

Smith / Mitchell
Powell / Larsson
Wiggins / Jaquez
Jovic / Fontecchio
Adebayo / Ware

I think this lineup could work well tbh.

Also for those complaining about the Niko contract, it’s basically the same as the 3/48 that Detroit signed Duncan Robinson too. Nikos is 4/62.

I know who I would rather have under contract for the next 3-4 years.

Two wrongs don't make a right

I think what we saw from Jovic last year is his floor. He could as easily be the next Dario Saric/Nemanja Bjelica/Trey Lyles as he could be the next Danilo Gallinari/Hedo Turkoglu. I mean, is Jovic really better than Kyle Anderson, who Miami just traded? I'd argue he isn't, but Anderson isn't 22 and, thus, doesn't come with the upside Jovic does.

Similarly, when Miami signed Robinson to his big deal, it was as likely as he'd be the next Jason Kapono/Doug McDermott as he'd be the next Kyle Korver.

Eh starters sat most of the 2nd half, so that was bound to happen. Overall I liked how the team looked, they had a sense of urgency and their hands were all over the place looking to cause turnovers and start fast breaks. Shooting looked promising too. The pace overall looked much faster. Hopefully they keep this up, its a young team with young legs.
