Re: How long before some on this board start calling for Scottie trade to free up PT for CMB?

I'm expecting a leap this year with him focusing on playing to his strengths. I don't want to see him shoot a 3 unless he is wide open and being challenged to do so. He clearly took a step back last season without Pascal beside him drawing attention. That should be corrected with BI.

What would be the correction you are expecting?

Some internal competition will be good for Scottie. Why even fuss? We have both locked up long-term.

Now don't give this crap about it's only one preseason game, I don't want to hear it. We now have years of data on our "franchise" player.

Watching Ingram play brings tears to my eyes, and I'm not even an emotional person. This is what a franchise player looks like. Scottie is just a maxed out role player at this point. We need to trade him and get what we can before he becomes another Gary Trent.

Discuss.

No but he should no longer be an “untouchable” for trade talks.

Was it really Scottie who didn't make anything easier for Pascal's shooting? Or was it Pascal himself, because he believed for a long time (too long IMO) that he could be a Batman that could handle a lot of individual creation responsibility, and the organization shares blame in empowering that belief for too long?

Did we (assuming you mean the FO and coaching staff here) really overtax Siakam with too much individual creation responsibility, or did he want that individual creation responsibility, because he believed in himself for a long time that he could be championship caliber Batman, and the organization shares blame in empowering that belief for too long?

What does this even mean?

Siakam was in that role due to necessity. If there was another player better in that role then Siakam then he would have been regulated to a second option.

It's not like Siakam took the organization hostage and forced himself as the #1. He doesn't have that type of power.

Also why shouldn't a player of Siakam's caliber have the belief that he is one of the best? Our post championship team had a lot of success. Pascal was one half away last year from probably being finals FMVP. He was in the ECF the year before. Pascal is a very very good basketball player. To achieve his level you have to have strong self belief.

Siakam has proven he can drive team success over and over again. He is a leader on Indiana and has always been a team first guy. I find this fantasy scenario you created to be ridiculous.

I think we all thought RJ has been in trouble for a while. After two preseason games, RJ looks locked in, and has chemistry with BI.

Scottie looks entitled and unprepared. He has time to figure it out, but it's crazy how quickly the narrative has changed. He's in the hot seat.

CMB being his natural replacement role wise, while looking like natural leader, isn't helping Scottie's image.

Just in terms of value/return and making pieces work around him, it’s something I’ve been thinking about. That was before I became even more bullish on CMB.

We shouldn't be forcing any trades right now. We don't have a real tax problem until next year. We should let the team try to playing winning basketball, let their value hopefully increase, and then make the right moves.

No. This is the year he has to prove he can be a starplayer and he should have all season long to do it. Maybe it starts working at game 40 instead of game 1, but he should have the time. After the season we can talk about it, if he isnt up to this task.

No.... It's really that simple.

He wants to get everyone get incorporated.
How do people do not see this? That's what's mind-blowing to me.

Remember this from last pre-season?

Hes still young and has time to get more consistant....But CMB deff makes him expendable to the roster and if a trade comes along for an upgrade and the asking price is Barnes for said player go and make the move.....I don't think Barnes ever reaches franchise player during his career and will just be a upper tier roleplayer at his very best. Could really plug CMB in Barnes position on the team and add an upgrade in a different area like the PG position using Barnes as a trade chip.

We don’t have any untouchable players on this roster. Aside from CMB and probably Ingram since we are locked into seeing what we have with him for now. But sure, I’d throw anyone in the conversation and I’m sure Bobby would too.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

poeltl will be past his prime in 2-3 years probably...imo barnes and cmb is a big enough front court and should wreck serious havoc on defense...jakob would then make a nice vet bench big
