You're a hall of fame drink-and-post guy. Some of my favorite threads start with you saying, "So I've been drinking..."

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm coming up on 38 years sober.

Congrats on 38 years! ODAAT!

They should always take a pic before they wake you up to prove you were indeed out cold!

I mean hell post a video - let them sleep a min of 5 minutes then post that video and call it good

If the answer’s ‘no’ to any of those, he’s probably walking. Were there any aggravating factors? And even if this is his first offense, it’ll likely be just a slap on the wrist.

This story’s light on key details, so I’ll hold off on judgment until more facts come out.

EDIT: I'm not paying the $4.75 to access the case file open to the public either. Funding for mod salaries was cut recently. :)

It probably means he refused to take the breathalizer.

Good chance he declined any testing...though I guess at some point they might have gotten a warrant to pull blood?

Way better than driving 50 MPH and falling asleep at the wheel, but still pretty damn bad unless he has narcolepsy or some ****.

I mean...how long was this stop for traffic? Was it hours? Minutes? I 100% have been tired enough where I've pulled over to sleep, alcohol free. Now the fact horns likely blasting at him didn't lead him to waking up before officers showed up tells me he wasn't sober. But imagine if he just started drinking because he'd been there a few hours?

Depending on state, 1st offense will get the class, $10,000 fine, 3-6 months loss of license.

Also wtf is supspioun of dui? In jersey if you refuse a field test or to blow the machine it's automatic arrest. I

There's no punishment in NJ for refusing the field test or blowing on the road side. If they still arrest you (which they likely will, but it's not automatic) you'd have to blow for the machine at the station or face some harsh punishments. This is fairly standard for most states. Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would ever do a field sobriety test even sober. They're wildly subjective. The breath test you take if you're sober 100% though.

My dad fell asleep heading to the store for me when i was 18 and he'd just gotten back from a trip in Africa. Officer just followed him home. People do actually fall asleep on the road from time to time.

That is impressive, even at his worst he's likable and down-to-earth.
Paul Pierce has more charm and humility in his smallest toe than LeBron and Luka have in their entire bodies.

Was he actually drunk or was he just being Paul Pierce. It's hard to tell with him

I highly doubt he gets arrested if he doesn't give the cops a big enough just cause to arrest him for suspicion of DUI. If he refused to take a breathalyzer, that's basically admitting you're guilty.

Plus it's funny that he blames passing out due to old age when he'll only be turning 48 later this month.

Obviously he as not fully sober, my point was if he fell asleep while driving it could have done way more damage.

That generally isn't going to happen. But yes that'd be awful.

I'm not sure it's clear what happened. If an officer was right by him and saw him sleeping before horns. Then very well maybe he wasn't drunk. We don't have the details. A lot of lawyers tell people to skip all tests so it's not crazy Pierce just defaulted to that. IMO no reason not to take a breath test if you're sober...but even if you had 1 drink HOURS ago, many might not risk it. Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% assuming he was drunk, but we certainly don't know for sure.

Never forget, this below actually happened...you can find the full video but this is a short enough one if you didn't see it before. These things happen and they're WILD! And this kid's example if 100% why it's just dumb to deal with some officers.
