They’re all back with multi year extensions.
When did the Blue Jays turn into the Leafs?
Ask Ed Rogers.

Raul Mondesi himself isn’t making that play.
If you think Mondesi couldn’t throw a laser from shallow CF, you don’t know Mondesi.
I know Raul Mondesi just fine. He isn’t making a grab on sinking liner in that situation. If you’re talking about him being set 250 feet from home waiting for a ball hit at him that is another story.

Your hero Kirk is good, but Raleigh is great. That is the difference.
This equation isn’t accurate. Kirk is good-great… This year Raleigh was phenomenal. The Mariners are golfing without him.

Then we’re talking about two different plays. I’m talking about the sac fly in the 7th where Varsho was waiting on a lazy fly ball in shallow CF and had time to set his feet and throw to home to get Suarez. The throw ended up being a pop fly to the mound.

Calling Kirk good for half a season over the last 3 years is probably where the equation is wrong too.

Kirk is a top 10 player in the league, Raleigh is a top 3
I’ll still take him myself at that money

Kirk had a solid year, but is nowhere near a Top 10 MLB player. Based on what? The number of buffets he can mow down? I know you love the guy, but get real for a minute. The guy had a solid bounce back year, but definitely not a Top Ten player.
Kirk sucked for the last five weeks of the regular season hitting wise, and hit an atrocious .203 for the month of September. That is not Top Ten material. His hitting numbers overall were not Top Ten also, and ended the year with a 2.3 WAR (not Top Ten). He should not be mentioned as the same breath as Raleigh. I commend him for having a nice bounce back year though.

Check the fWAR rates, he’s the best and most valuable player we’ve got
There aren’t 10 guys I’m taking over him

Knew Raleigh would finish us after that 15th inning debacle
That HR off Gausman will haunt us for the next decade

The payroll being this high is the main reason for the team's success from 2021-25. I'd rather lose in the ALCS with a top 5 payroll than not make the playoffs and have to pass a hat around in spring training in order find enough money to improve. If Shatkins is sticking around, and that seems like a safe bet at this point, then the payroll has to remain this high. It won't be the most efficient run team, but that's really the only way they can possibly build something resembling a sustainable contender.
But with Berrios, Santander, and Gimenez, we are starting to see "unmovable contracts" adding up. None of those 3 are tradeable assets, and they make siginficant money. They need to spend it better moving forward.
That Ervin Santana thing was so embarrassing man no cap league and were begging our own players to defer their own money to sign a guy lmao
People are crazy if they want those days back over being a big spending team

Kirk,Barger didnt work out,and probably wont.
Who else could do a good job there at the 4 slot? Clement deserves a shot.Have to think outside the box we are in.

This bullpen is simply not championship material. Need at least two more Starters also, by letting Scherzer, Bassitt and Bieber walk. Ross Atkins and Shapiro could learn a thing or two on how to build a team like Seattle, spending about 90 million less than the Jays.

Give it a break. Only a solo homer given up in 5 and 2/3 innings from your starter is as good as it gets - stop biching about it as if that's why we lost last night's game

A high payroll doesn't stop our FO from acquiring good players. Look at the Dodgers. Billion dollar payroll and the best farm system in baseball. Our FO just sucks. I wish we'd hire someone from the Rays organization.
