Teams almost always ramp guys up with minutes restriction, rest on back-to-backs etc and then hold them out if there is any even minor sign of the issue flaring up. That's not the same as holding a completely healthy guy out of the lineup just for rest.

The Suns literally announced right after acquiring him that they'd be doing this to start the season, apparently their medical team has a plan for him, so it comes as no surprise.

Williams was basically brought on board as a low cost high potential guy: the trade was Williams + Suns 2029 second rounder returned for 2025 29th pick + 2029 pick (worst after three swaps).

I mean, I kinda get it with bigs.We already know he has some form of a chronic injury.

I didn’t like it, but load management has probably allowed Embiid to even have a career, and even now we’re reading articles where his knee i think it was specifically is basically an old man knee and can barely handle playing half a season. If that’s actually happening, for bigs especially since as a big guy, you aren’t really supposed to move like the normal NBA player but have to, I can handle load management. Especially with a guy with a known injury history, we don’t know how good or bad these things are.

Like for the Bucks. Giannis has had knee issues/had a surgery on that knee. They describe it as a “cleanup,” but he’ll, the fact you even have to “cleanup” a knee is kinda the point. So load management, yea, don’t want to stress the knee any more already.

He also has bone growth issues which was what the Lakers cited for rescinding their trade with the Hornets.

The "load management" is hogwash, unless it pertains to someone with legit health issues that could affect their short-term and long-term viability for being a mobile human. In this case, it's understandable.

Another great game tonight. 20 pts (9/11 FG, 2-2 FT), 11 rbs (3 off), 1 ast, 4 stls, 1 blk, 2 tos, +6

Jock Landale & Jaren Jackson Jr aren't exactly a big, physical, rebounding duo, though. Still, two great performances in a row. I wish Luka had this guy to throw lobs to.

First they trade Rozier after finding out he was cheating.

Now they trade Mark damaged goods body.

Anyone who didnt think big Mark was any good simply didn't watch Charlotte Hornets basketball.

He's way better than Dalton Connect, if he can stay healthy

I hope Lakers FO/medical staff made a mistake and the big guy got himself a long and productive career, really good basketball player.

He’s one of the best roll threats in the NBA already. Insane mix of length, hands, and instincts around the rim. You just can’t teach that kind of stuff.

I thought the problem was always his rim protection? Without that a C's value is cut in half imo.

Top tier roll man. Top tier offensive rebounder. For a non 3 point shooting non play making 5 he's as good as it gets offensively.

On the right team he's a great piece. But on the wrong team he's not gonna make you good just by himself. I think Lakers fked up here since he'd be very good playing off Luka/Lebron/Reaves

But yea, I can see why The Lakers ultimately passed on him despite the fact they were being given him for a bag of Doritos and a couple stale donuts

My brother travelled all the way from Australia to watch him play and this is what he gets. What a bummer.

Really? For Mark Williams?

If he can defend Wemby he's worth the price of admission.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna
