And if Varsho didn’t hit a 2 run shot off Snell while he was completely dominating game 1, maybe we get swept
Two can play at that nonsense what if game
I like Varsho as much as anyone, but he's been horrible in the world series. And has continuously messed up RISP moments. Yesterday alone Varsho stranded like 5 runners. You can't deny that Barger is the better bat right now. There's no shame in making an adjustment especially in a winner take all scenario.
Roberts moved an actual MVP in Betts down the lineup yesterday because we kept walking Ohtani to get to Betts. And it immediately paid off with Smith getting a hit.
I'd much rather the hotter bat in Barger gets to hit if they start walking Vlad and we have runners on base.
Varsho is good for power and strikeouts. He can hit homers just fine from the bottom of the order. And if he gets out, at least it's less likely he's costing the team in RISP.
