i mean this trade was so bad--its a fireable offense. If they had waited another year...your talking about getting a top 5 pick
It was a bad trade, but...
The Beal trade was much better than this was bad. They hit on the Sarr pick. They hit on the George pick.
This FO should be judged on the aggregate of their moves - not on any single move (IMO).
This is pretty rosy.
The Beal trade really hasn't netted us zilch so far. Sure getting out of the contract was great, but it definitely wasn't something that wipes your slate clean jettisoning a young, blue chip talent that Deni was and is. At the end of the day that was just an unloading of Beal's contract until one of those swaps actual amount to something.
Dawkins has also been anything but special on trades outside of Beal aside maybe the Gafford one. We got nothing for Kristap (we got muscled by a team that desperately wanted him), nothing for Jones, nothing for Brogdon, nothing for Smart, nothing for Kyle (that was also cleaning up a mess of signing him to an extension in the first place), nothing for Poole, won't get anything for CJ or Middleton, all of which were touted by many as bringing us back value. Oh yeah he got a pile of **** for Deni too, but he wasn't his guy so free pass by all the media in this town. Shoulder shrugs,
As far as draft picks go, Sarr has had a good start to the season, but definitely going to need a sample size larger than 8 games after how bad he was last season propped up from a very, very good start from 3 (raise your hand if you think he's going to shoot 45% the rest of the way). Plus he was the 2nd pick in the draft, you at minimum expect decent production on average when picking there, so to act like it's a homerun seems to be jumping the gun just a bit. George has been good, but a classic example of why you may want to kick the breaks on making an assessment of a player after 8 games, to which he's come down to earth since the first couple of games. Bilal and Bub are far from sure things either, one which was the 'crown jewel' of our Portland heist...
Hell he even signed Kispert to an extension lol.
So yes, agree we should look at the aggregate. It ain't anything to write home about, and that's being nice.
