Okay, I'll do that. What did you want me to look for?

What I saw. He was boxing out and grabbing rebounds. He was deflecting passes with his quick hands. He wasn't getting blown by (which is what I had fully expected).

Tim Duncan and Antonio Daniels really like Derik Queen, but what do they know?

Derik Queen had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks, 4 turnovers in 24 minutes, vs. the Spurs.

Why do you keep posting about Queen in the Tre thread? We have a thread for 2025 rookies and this isn't it.

Why? From three days ago:

I think Queen could have complemented Sarr well. I recall most here said DQ would struggle defensively. Not so. His strength has been the Wizards' greatest area of need.

I felt like trolling. Is Johnson the better pick?

I still think so.

Queen hasn't really been playing THAT well despite all of your posts here. We're talking about a center with a TS% of .525. He has outplayed Johnson, but not really as much as you think. Here are their numbers on a per 100 possession basis.

They are scoring about the same, though Tre is more efficient with a better TS% and fewer turnovers. Queen is obviously rebounding quite a bit better and his stocks are good, but he is also fouling everyone in sight. Overall, BPM and PER say he is out playing Johnson, but we can't forget that Queen is 16 months older than Tre. We should be comparing Tre's second year to Queen's rookie year.

Queen has a TS of 52.5% which sucks for anyone, especially a big man.

You might be impressed by a big who scored 13 pts on 14 shots but I am pretty sure you are the only one.

maybe you should create your own thread about fat NBA players for you to obsess over. You were slobbering all over Sengun after opening night when he made 5 3s. Now he is back to being a total non threat from 3 with only 5 made 3s in his last 7 games.

It's only a matter of time. DQ is an allstar. Just re-read my post because it applies to the mediocre GM's on this board. There are some good ones here, but very very few.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Queen is a conundrum. He was before the draft to me, although I had him 6 overall on my board, I still didn't want him at 6, only in a trade down scenario. Why? Too much standing around on defense. Which is sorta hard to deal with when your playing C and its clear his best position offensively is C. Well he's still standing around on defense for alot of possessions and that really is a tough sell for me. I do think he has the best footwork I've ever seen for a 20 yr old, including Jokic but of course he's not nearly as big. I just don't know, even after watching him dominate an NBA quarter. He has to want to play defense and I have not seen a commitment to that yet.
