To me value comes in his intestinal fortitude. Gafford gives the Mavs some toughness. He’s also healthier than Lively. He’s still a backup center (defensive rim rolling center) but he is someone I would like the Mavs to keep. Especially with Coop on the floor (and if they keep Kyrie). Gafford’s ability to block shots can lead to a lot of fast breaks and I’m anxious to see a fast break with Kyrie and Cooper. They still need a stretch big but Gafford does fit with Cooper and Kyrie if they want to play fast.

I remember PO series when he was completely unplayable... Good back-up C, no more.

No I agree he’s a backup center and in some cases he can be made to be unplayable.
The Mavs do need a starting center who can provide some offense but I do like Gafford’s toughness.
If the Mavs can get AD back on the court for a good stretch of games and if he can drop 10-15 lbs I’d like to see if Milwaukee would be interested in giving up Myles Turner. I know AD and Giannis are terrible fits but you never know until you ask. Milwaukee could be desperate enough and could see AD as an upgrade over Turner. Lots of if’s I know.

AD is out next 10 days, like things are going he might not play again for Mavs.

1. Cooper Flagg. No explanation needed.
2. PJ Washington. Elite role player. Young enough to fit Flagg's timeline and on a solid contract. For me, he's a Mavs lifer.
3. Max Christie. Very good young 3&D player. He won't be a star but he's a guy that can fit any team and play 30+ mpg.
Everyone else can be had for the right price. Lively I'd hate to trade, but if the right trade came along, his health concerns are bad enough for me to move on from before it gets worse.

If I'm Mavs brass we work together to build a trade to a destination that Irving is supportive of or if he's happy to rehab this season then return next as the veteran voice as we rebuild I'm all for him finishing out his days in Dallas. I also love the bond he had with Luka.
