Based on what tho? He hasn’t coached a game in his life. We’re 18% into the season… give the coach some time
Yet we hired the guy who coached Kobe, LeBron and most recently the kings, only to be fired by all
Where’s the context tho? He did well with the Lakers his first year… they were like top 5 in the league and .620 win%… the issue the following year was when they got Nash and Howard. Their defense was bad (old slow players and Dwight was playing with a big injury) despite the offense looking good. The Lakers after that were doomed for like the next 8 years.… the real issue was the aging roster.
With the Cavs he was with them for years and took that sorry ass squad with LeBron to the Finals.. he only left there the summer LeBron went to Miami.. they were clearly going into tank/rebuilding mode.
The Kings are the laughing stock of the league and haven’t been relevant for over 20 years but once he got there, he got them to the playoffs, but they’re a really horrible franchise, one of the worst in the league. Dunno what else went wrong there tho..
Not saying he’s without fault, he’s human, and far from perfect, but to blame it all on him? Na, that’s not really fair.
CP made a good point about coaches… you got ones like Mike who’ve been around a while and can end up like a Larry Brown who was good for years, then wins a title, then has a disaster finish and never comes back to the league, and you got ones like Carlisle who was also good for years, then gets fired a few times, then comes back and with the right fit, wins a title and goes on to have more success for years to come. You just never know…
I’d like to think this dude is smart, has a good strategic mind, and is trying out a bunch of new things to see what works… I think he deserves some time. Way too early to tell how this is gunna pan out…
