With the game nearly over, the key stat is:

OKC 32x 3Pta @ 44%

POR 44x 3Pta @ 23%.

This team's obsession with 3Pt shots is absolutely illogical given that we aren't a good 3Pt shooting team. It makes zero sense.

And for those who say "let the young guys shoot and learn from their mistakes", I tremendously disagree. I'm ok for Clingan, Sharpe etc to take a few attempts each game, sure. But we shouldn't be seeing so many 1/6, 1/8, 2/9 etc 3Pt lines that we've seen all season. It'll only help influence a chucker attitude imo. We've seen it with Shaedon.

I don't care if it's open - if you're open for a reason (e.g. Sharpe or Clingan), perhaps take that as a sign.....

Yeah man Jerami can shoot and Deni gets a pass even though he didnt hit many, hes capable enough. Otoh Guys like Yang (1-6), love (1-8), heck even though he made 2 Clingan taking 4 I hate seeing those stat lines

I keep waiting for this team to fall apart with the injuries but it feels like they keep bouncing back even after losses like this. Will be interesting to see how the season unfolds id imagine games will be competitive but itll be hard to stay close in games with basically a 6 man rotation and a bunch of 2 way guys.

If things are gonna stay this way id hope we strategically pull the plug starting the ASG and beyond. Perhaps Dundon can get that ball rolling so we dont screw ourselves out of our best shot at a franchise player we might have in the next decade

It's more like a 4 man rotation (Clingan, Avdija, Camara, and Grant). The 5th starter is a 2-way player. Maybe Murray counts, but no one else is or should be a rotational player.

Just watched this game on replay, POR, completely outclassed , then again so are most teams vs OKC, but I would say, the thought that Dame is going to come in and make this team able to compete with OKC? Ludicrous

The fundamental flaw with this team is?

Embracing the Billups’ defensive philosophy. Good offense will always beat good defense in the NBA, specifically in the playoffs when it matters most. This team has sold out any aspect of offense for defense, and it is a flawed strategy, and even if Dame came back 100% he’s not gonna be enough to offset it.

Oh, there is the Caleb lLove I remember, 3-13/1-8, what a waste of a 2-way spot, he does not even have the self reflection to wonder whether or not the shots he is taking/way he is playing is best for the team. No, it’s just full steam ahead and screw everything else.

Camara had 4pts & played mid level defense, these kinds of outings are not going to make people feel good about the contract he signed

Avdija struggled tonight, teams are figuring out what is tendencies are & he is going to need to adjust if he wants to keep elevating his game

DC keeps so many plays alive, even if POR did not capitalize on the multiple times he kept possessions alive, the value is still there

I am sure there are some fans who will look at the way Yang played tonight and be encouraged, but I am also sure they are the same fans that completely ignored the multiple times OKC players blew by him for an easy score, or the multiple times he was easily boxed out of a play

I actually feel bad for Splitter, this is probably not a roster he would’ve preferred, and yet he is going to be blamed for this team‘s shortcomings, when the reality is, this is 100% on Cronin/Billups ill begotten vision quest

Best part about tonight is that Splitter knew to pull the plug to save energy for the next game.

Even though it’s easier to play with a big lead, the talent disparity between these teams is pretty remarkable.

Weirdly, the Blazers are still on track to make the play-in.

Take your loss and move on. The crisp cutting and passing built into the OKC offense in the first half should be how Portland is playing with this roster.

We are still the only team to have beaten OKC.

The primary roster shortcoming at this point in the season is a lot injuries and having to play Sidy Cissoko and Caleb Love in major roles. The defense was fine the first few games. I will withhold judgement until we get Jrue, Scoot, Sharpe, Thybulle and Wesley back on the court at the same time.

Yep, .944 winning percentage, +16.9 differential. There is a reason that they are the world champions. They also have a boatload of picks coming up.

That any franchise outside of SA thinks they are catching them over the next 1/2 decade is just plain silly. Now it is just entertainment and waiting for 2030 (or a horrific set of injuries to OKC).

Sure, OKC coming off a back to back and w\o Chet\Dort\Caruso\J-Will, and POR had Jrue & Sharpe playing that game. It was a nice win, but acting like Matisse, Scoot & Wesley would have made a significant difference then or now is reaching...

Many posters wanted Sharpe benched. Him being out hasn't been the boost that they were thinking.
