I don't think so either, it would give him even less leverage for a trade and for afterwards when he wants to sign a new contract. And the timing isn't right, if this were the case maybe you'd do it a couple weeks before the trade window opens, but even then it'd be more destructive than helpful.
I agree that it would be an extreme move by JK but what do you make of Kerr's comments?
I don't know that I have all the quotes from Kerr, but from what I have seen, it could just mean he's busy with the team and just hasn't had time to check in with the training staff (or maybe he did and they told him it was going to be at least another week and check back later — at that point as a coach you probably don't care much since you have the info you need to set roster/rotations).
But I can see how it would look like he does know and is just frustrated too. Hard to know, I don't think we have the full context. If Kuminga was a little bitter in the offseason, it wouldn't be at all surprising if that bitterness is still there, it's going to resurface the first time anything negative happens. Kind of like how you hate your job and you almost leave but they convince you to stay and give you a raise, then a month later you realize all the same problems that made the job bad for you are still there and the extra money is just a temporary relief that doesn't fix anything.
