With Cuban in charge of hiring the new GM don’t rule it out.

I don't want it, no reason to spoil a great career, if he has few miatakes as a GM.

Agreed. Love Dirk, but best Mav ever doesnt mean he'd be a good GM. He was said to be a big part of why the Mavs traded for Rondo and said Giannis was too skinny so didnt want the Mavs to take him. Incredible player, awesome guy by all accounts, but probably doesnt have the chops to be a GM

I saw Dirk say in a recent interview that when he retired he thought he would transition to the Mavs front office and eventually be the GM. He didn’t get the opportunity he thought he would though (likely because of Nico) and now that he’s had time to see the amount of time you have to put in to be a good GM he’d rather do something else related to the NBA.

I don't even want anything back. Just get rid of him. There will be no relevant 1st involved anyway

This 100%!!!
Mavs fans should cringe every minute AD is on the floor. He is one minor incident away from totally destroying this franchise for the next 5 years.
Get what you can for him now or you will regret it later.

DAL receives: Josh Green + FRP DAL 27 FRP
CHA receives: Gafford + FRP 28 FRP (worse of OKC and DAL)
DAL gets the coveted DAL 27 FRP back. Daoneandonly probably goes nuts since Green would be back but he's really just there for filler.
CHA gets a good C in Gaff that fits very well with their guards. They get off of Green's bad contract. They also still get a FRP back in exchange for the 27 FRP, albeit, it wil be OKC's pick which will be end of the 1st round in all likelyhood. In this trade, CHA bets on DAL keeping AD, a healthy Kyrie, and a sophomore leap from Flagg next year making DAL a playoff team in 27 and therefore the 27 FRP not being as valuable.
Super Cooper wrote:So basically Gaff for a FRP swap of years? And we have to pay Street Clothes 3.0 $28.2 over the next 2 seasons? What is your logic behind this?
IMO, Gaff is worth MUCH more than that.

28 FRP will almost certainly be a pick between 25-30 since OKC has the favorable swap. It's pretty much guaranteed to be a bad FRP since I don't see OKC slowing down for a while. If we get the full 27 FRP back, it technically gives us a chance to tank for another season or at least get a pick in a better range. It gives a potential out if we suck next year. Note, without this trade, if we are a bad team again next year, we're completely screwed unless we luck out in the lottery since our pick is only top 2 protected.
Also I don't "want to give Gaff away." He's a solid player that I like but if you want to get something of value, you have to give something of value.

Super Cooper wrote:I don't understand why posters on this board want to give Gaff away. He's coveted by many teams in the league. He's productive on both ends of the court and is on a very sensible contract. I realize that if AD stays and plays C, Gaff is a luxury.... but that diminishes his value none.
Super Cooper wrote:Sorry, I just don’t understand that logic at all. Paying JHreen $28.2m to be in street clothes the next 2 years? Do you understand what a negative value that is?
Mavrelous wrote:Doubt CHO does it, but I would pull the trigger.
Another issue with this, it freezes LAL 1st, it can't be traded until 28 (unless Mavs get a new FRP)
