This way you have trae, RJ, BI, Giannis contracts all that expire at the end of next year. Gives us a 2 year shot to win it all; if not, break it down and start all over.
Giannis is great obviously, but he's 31, whereas Barnes is only 24 and is a few years away from his prime, and it's way too early to determine CMB's ceiling, however as a 21 year old rookie, he's been very impressive... I'd personally rather have the Scottie & CMB combo for the next 10-15 years vs Giannis for the next 5.
giannis at 31 is better than scottie at 24(or any age for that matter). any championship window only lasts 2-3 years at best in the parity era. this gives us our shot. i'd love to keep cmb if possible and replace with picks sure
Ya Giannis is better now, I didn't say he wasn't, but the decline will start right around the time Scottie's prime begins, so there'll be a time in the next few years when Scottie will be the better/more impactful player. And the discussion wasn't just Scottie, it was Scottie and CMB, not to mention picks, I'm a big proponent of building sustainable success versus just focusing on short term window of success, like the Leafs for example, and I don't believe swapping Giannis for Scottie and CMB makes us true contenders.
