IQ and Jak contracts make me want to yak

No one wants Quickley's contract.
It seems Barrett/Poeltl/Agbaji for Davis/Exum, I wonder if we need to include picks.
After all, we are still over the tax with no good guards.

ofc picks would need to be included, and i'd guess multiple 1sts. That package going out is negative. RJ may be needed for our team, but he hasnt been better this year than last when the Pel's decided they wanted Bruce Brown's expiring over him. Nothing has changed in the valuation over RJ league-wide, and Poeltl is a straight up bad contract. Im guessing there would be 2 1sts involved in this, in which case i wouldnt do it. Investing in AD is a dumb idea, and the Mavs can just dump him over taking back bad money

Listen, if trading for AD is our way of getting rid of the IQ/Jak contracts, great.

But god I hope we're not thinking of extending AD for him to come here.

Rollins/1st/contracts (kuz/Portis). Contracts dont run that long and Rollins/1st is enough young talent, i guess.

Youre not the only one that sees those as bad contracts tho. When Dallas asks for 2 1sts on top, is it still worth it?

I really want no part of AD. I don't trust any of this "he might need surgery" to then "no wait, he doesn't need surgery". He and Rich Paul are up to shenanigans with the ONLY goal being to land an extension. In fact, they have been pretty up front about their leaks, because all we have heard is that he wants a max extension. We have not heard anything about wanting to win, or playing for a certain coach or team. He just wants to get paid for the last time.

Agreed. Hard to get a team to eat 5 and 4 years of Poeltl and IQ, respectively, without strong value. Harder still when we're getting the best player in the deal, warts and all.

definitely a risk. Bigger one than Ingram for sure. Looks like Raps just want to steal him and maybe get off Poeltl's deal.

Lots of downside on this one vs potential upside of him being a game changer in a playoff series.

If the contracts lined up and it was Poeltl and Agbaji, I'd do it

Don't want to see RJ traded for AD, we need his driving/cutting as part of the offense. Maybe they were too far apart in their extension talks during the offseason, and they believe he'll be more expensive to keep around than IQ. The FO also doesn't seem to value RJ that much.

The only scenario I'd be fine with RJ going out is if Christie comes back, but that won't make sense for the Mavs.

What's in it for Dallas? My worry is that the Raps FO gives a pick package alongside bad money as theyre under pressure to win. Poeltl has a contract that extends 4 years after this...Mavs are gonna want a lot to go from AD to Poeltl (and they may have to eat RJ/IQ too, tho RJ is probably neutralish value at this point)

Don't get me wrong, he would unquestionably be the 2nd best player to ever suit up for the Raps IMO. I have said I can even live with the deal if they don't give him an extension. And yes, moving off Poeltl would make this more palatable. But man, 4 years @ 275 million is rough.

Looks like AD and Rich P want him out of there and forcing them to take a deal at the deadline.

What a disaster the IQ & Poeltl extensions were.

They are at the point where they would possibly throw in RJ (who has proven to be valuable to this team) AND picks for a guy who is not only on the wrong side of 30.......he is often injured.....currently injured.......and has very little value in the league.

I get that they might have to burn a pick or 2 to get off IQ & Yak contracts, but throwing RJ in there just kills this team.

This deal would be highway robbery for the Mavs......especially if they could trade RJ's contract for more picks.......although this deal would kill their chances of a high pick this season (unless they can re-route IQ & RJ before the deadline).

This deal doesn't make sense for either team really.....

Sure, but salary dumps exist. Doesnt explain why Dallas would willingly eat bad money, unless there was a decent amount of incentive. And you'd need a lot of incentive to take on 4.5 years of Poeltl or 3.5 of IQ, at numbers that are a lot more than they'd get on the open market. You said the Bucks offer is awful, but thats a lot better than Poeltl/RJ and a single 1st. Portis/Kuzma is just better salary filler

I don't think so. You also have to take into account Dallas doesn't even own their picks after this year. They arent going to tank for nothing.
