What'd he do? I was watching the NCAA's.
We seriously could have gotten somebody better than Hawkins if we just traded him this offseason, I think there is still time before his value plummets actually.
I'd rather have a high contact guy with little power who can field the positions than a low contact high strikeout guy, who can't really field and has no idea how to play the game. Smarts over skills people, smarts over skills.....especially when it comes to back up infielders.

He struck out 3 times.

What the hell does this even mean, beyond it being a cliche color guys use when they want to overrate a player?
I have no objection to wanting a defensive whiz as the utility guy... but Betemit is not a bad hitter for the bench... might even be a quality starter so long as he can prove himself competent on the middle infield. Don't look at his batting average.

I remember reading that he was working on his agility all winter. Which is why Arod said Jeter would have an MVP season. Although, no one really spoke about how he supposedly built up his agility. -Jitpal

You guys are right, no player has ever strained a quad in the beginning of the season before unless they were partying all winter long. Jeter also didn't train at all in March during spring training with the drill sergeant manager so there was definitely no point in the offseason where he was in shape. All he did was pound beers and eat ho-ho's until last week.

He struck out three times yesterday. He also tried to go from first to third the other day with NONE out and was thrown out by 20 feet. He then tried to drop down a bunt with one out and a guy on second and proceeded to drop the barrel of his bat - something you are tought in little league not to do. I know he was trying to bunt for a hit, but the thing is he isn't fast. If he had sacrificed the runner over he would have been on third with two outs. So that is twice in a few games where he tried to get a runner to third and didn't succeed in situations where you don't take risks to get a guy to third base.
