The right field bleachers got bored of watching our crappy middle relievers and started watching that Seinfeld episode where George loses Steinbrenner's birthday card and hilarity ensues.

With Paul O'Neill guest starring!

Mike Mussina ties Bob Gibson on the all-time list with 251 wins. He is now 42nd all time on the wins list. Very impressive.

What'd he do? I was watching the NCAA's.

We seriously could have gotten somebody better than Hawkins if we just traded him this offseason, I think there is still time before his value plummets actually.

I'd rather have a high contact guy with little power who can field the positions than a low contact high strikeout guy, who can't really field and has no idea how to play the game. Smarts over skills people, smarts over skills.....especially when it comes to back up infielders.

What the hell does this even mean, beyond it being a cliche color guys use when they want to overrate a player?

I have no objection to wanting a defensive whiz as the utility guy... but Betemit is not a bad hitter for the bench... might even be a quality starter so long as he can prove himself competent on the middle infield. Don't look at his batting average.

Oh boy 34Celtic, get ready to see a lot more Betemit. Jeter is not playing tomorrow according to him and there is speculation that it could be a week if not more. Although Girardi didn't want to talk about DL time. -Jitpal

I remember reading that he was working on his agility all winter. Which is why Arod said Jeter would have an MVP season. Although, no one really spoke about how he supposedly built up his agility. -Jitpal

I really did think Jeter's range looked better watching him over the first week. Maybe it was a fluke and his legs are still in bad shape, maybe he just pulled it really bad, maybe some of both. We'll see how he recovers.

im sure this is why jeter gets those creaky knees also

you have to train your legs (ESPECIALLY quads) in the offseason

You guys are right, no player has ever strained a quad in the beginning of the season before unless they were partying all winter long. Jeter also didn't train at all in March during spring training with the drill sergeant manager so there was definitely no point in the offseason where he was in shape. All he did was pound beers and eat ho-ho's until last week.

Seriously guys...attacking a guy for being lazy and not taking the offseason seriously because he strained a muscle? Thats a new low. Yeah, lets question a guy's (Derek Jeter's no less) work ethic and dedication because he strained a quad trying to beat out a ground ball.

He struck out three times yesterday. He also tried to go from first to third the other day with NONE out and was thrown out by 20 feet. He then tried to drop down a bunt with one out and a guy on second and proceeded to drop the barrel of his bat - something you are tought in little league not to do. I know he was trying to bunt for a hit, but the thing is he isn't fast. If he had sacrificed the runner over he would have been on third with two outs. So that is twice in a few games where he tried to get a runner to third and didn't succeed in situations where you don't take risks to get a guy to third base.
