I've been wanting to respond to my prediction and post in this thread but haven't had time until now. Wow what a thread brought to us by the most frequent game time posters. I hope you read this one too!

Seriously, I'm tired of EVERY SINGLE game thread turning out like this. Everyone is responsible for their own posts no matter what team they're a fan of.
Don't worry...we're on to trolls from other boards who start stuff. Trust me. But PLEASE don't sink to the name-calling, profane level...all that does is get you in trouble too. Just use the "report" function on their posts, and ignore them.
Today, while going through this thread, I was reminded of New York Yankee fans. You have this one group of knowledgeable, respect-deserving fans and then you have another group who ruins their entire teams fan image with horribly disrespectful, thoughtless words. I feel sorry for any of the formerly mentioned Jazz fans who have to read that kind of stuff just to participate in their game thread. I hope they are not discouraged and that they keep posting about one of the most intriguing groups of players and coaching philosophies in the game.

It's nice their team is winning but with the way they act you would think that some of the fans actually think they are on the team
It looks like the NW will be a 3 team race this season which is good for the NBA and good for us fans who enjoy close divisional rivalries.
It's true, many Portland fans are extreme and Blazer basketball is a big part of their lives. Personally, I take it as a positive. And it's not like there aren't Jazz fans out there just as dedicated.

I know you're tired of hearing it, but there is an actual fact based reason why it's important - Previously, teams this young have been pitiful. Also, the Blazers age is overrated because Darius Miles doesn't play and Raef LaFrentz hardly plays at all, so really the team is younger than the average age states. The '01 Bulls' oldest player was Fred Hoiberg (28), who played 2000+ minutes. They didn't have similar average age misrepresentative issues. The '54 Bullets are essentially irrelevant, so what you have is in all practicality the youngest core group of players to ever play, a group which is showing itself to be a playoff contender. I'll save your ears of any further youth facts now.

Outlaw is a fair comparison to AK in that they are such extremists. If you watch Outlaw closely, he is in on so many plays with slight deflections and the cause of unwanted shot and path of ballhandler changes, not unlike Kirilenko. Not many players are like them, regardless if Kirilenko is the superior defender.
As it was already stated Roy does run most of the plays for the Blazers. Call him a point SG, or a pass first SG if you will. Typically Blake will take the ball up the court to relieve pressure and energy use from Roy and then Roy will take over.

You guys beat Chicago in 2 OT's with a coach still trying to find out what his rotation is going to be, must be fulfilling considering they're sure as hell not a Playoff team right now. When Portland can beat a top team like PHX, SA, DAL, DET, or BOS, get back to me about being legit.
Doesn't matter if you wanted Martell or not, Deron is still #3 pick & Martell was #6 pick....#3>#6
Portland beat Dallas and Detroit back to back.
Any runs of this many wins is significant in any sport. No NBA team to go on a run like the Blazers have has missed the playoffs. It's fair to consider them a playoff contender (not title contender) team at this point.
xstockholmsyndromex wrote:We are now -56 FT differential against the Blazers this year.
The main reason for this is the coaching and playing styles of the teams. Essentially the Jazz foul the most and Portland the least. To say either team had a distinct foul calling advantage in the four game series is inaccurate, both teams seemed to get favorable calls at home.

If they can't win like this, then they really DO SUCK!!
A Jazz fan going bonkers over moving screens, that one got a big chuckle.

It's a big game in terms of tie-breaking, but with both teams a little beat up and the Jazz not fully gelled with Korver (though does it really take that long for a player like him?) I'm not sure how important it can be in determined future outcomes other than a tie-breaker.
It looks like I was right on one account. The absence of AK was apparent. He totally changes how the Jazz can defend and run the floor.
Even without AK, I can't believe Portland won this game with Roy essentially not playing, though his presence early on had to be big for the team. Great show of leadership and of following it. Whether Martell got open by legal means or not, most of the shots he hit were tough. His show of aggression to counter the intimidation Webster said the Jazz tried to impose in their previous game in Utah, especially the attempted 10-foot dunk on Collins, was rousing to say the least.
At this point in time it's fair the say the Blazers are better than the Jazz, but there is much season to go. I would tend to think a Sloan lead team would come back from a slump like this and hard. Still, it's difficult to say if it will make a large difference. The Jazz did lose two games to Portland in which of their best two players were out, while in one of those games the Jazz third most important player was absent. It's too bad these teams won't meet again later this year and at full strength.
