Why for the Kings:
Salmons/Garcia/Dahntay can fill the vacated 2 spot left by Kevin Martin and Gasol is the same age as most of the Kings main players (Artest, Bibby, Miller, Salmons) Gasol gives the Kings the PF they've been searching for since C-Webb got hurt.

Why for the Grizz:
With a less than enthused Gasol who seems not to fit as well with the up-tempo style of the Grizz(specifically Conley/Gay as their future core), Martin AND Douby look like two young pieces that would excel in a fast breaking style that can be added to their young core. The grizz add a future all-star at the 2 guard spot who's only 24 years old and average nearly 25 ppg this season.

SAR's just injured, I'm SURE he holds more value in the league than Cardinal to deal next year...as for Kenny, he's maybe a quarter step better than Cardinal and is needed to fill salary in the deal. The deal boils down to Martin/Douby for Gasol...the rest is just salary/roster filler.

I don't know if the MEM would do this deal for Gasol, but I wanted to say that its refreshing to see trades where the Kings aren't automatically written off. They have three talented veterans, who simply don't have a lot of trade value. I think this deal (with Moore) puts them in the West Coast Playoffs. Even if they have to break it up this summer, reminding the league of the Kings players success might help their trade value more.

Is that because Andres Nocioni is a superior player to Kevin Martin??? Please explain to me why a sure-fire 20 PPG scorer at the age of 24 is not a good idea for a team with Conley, Warrick, Gay, Lowry. Martin would fit in PERFECTLY to Iavoroni's beyond up-tempo desired offense. Gay and Martin on the wings with Conley would be a ridiculously good up-temp team.

Match the salaries, because Martin is a PPP player.

Taking out for a moment Cardinal and Thomas (about the same negative value), the deal is:

Gasol for Kevin Martin, Mikki Moore and Quincy Douby.

The 3 players are good for Iavaroni's system, I've seen a lot worse proposals for Gasol.

I think the Kings should do that, and it's not bad for Memphis but not sure it's enough.

In this proposal I don't think Memphis would have a problem adding Navarro instead of Brown/Jacobsen. Navarro is a very good player from the bench and he would make the transition better for Gasol.

Also if necessary, I'd put Garcia instead of Douby in the deal.

The Grizzlies, if in fact are looking to move Gasol, would be luckier than Hell to obtain a player of Martin's caliber back in return. I think KEEPING Gasol holds the most PRODUCTION value, but getting Kevin Martin, who I think would be an ideal fit with Conley, Gay, Warrick in a faster pace than the suns would be probably the best player they could realistically get back in return when dealing Gasol. Nocioni's not better, David Lee is not better, Kevin Martin is a rising star in the league and fits with the style and age range of the current Grizzly roster.

Your proposal didn't work for me..since Martin is PPP it was REALLY tricky...adding Navarro throws it out of whack. It pretty much has to be Gasol for Thomas/Martin/Douby and then I just matched up Moore with Cardinal to give the Grizz more size, a better player AND one less year on his deal to boot(since Mikki has a buy out option his final year)

One of the main reasons that I'm okay with dealing Martin for Gasol is the fact that we'd still have Salmons AND Garcia there to fill the void. Dealing Martin AND Garcia IMO is a bit too rich.

^^ Well, Garcia in the deal is just another sweetener for the Grizzlies. Of course the Kings would like to keep him. Getting Navarro would help too, I'd like to see this guy with 20-25 minutes every game.

It's not the worse offer for Gasol I've seen - if the Kings 1st were included then the Grizz would have to seriously consider it (if it were on the table ... and not just on an internet message board).

I'm not saying that Martin & Gasol aren't similar value but I don't see Petrie going in this direction.

I assume you're talking about Cardinal...you do see that Kenny is going the other way, right? Guess which player is scoring more? Guess which player is being paid more? You're getting the BENEFIT of that swap.

I saw both Kenny & Cardinal, but I stand by what I said, the Kings shouldn't take back a bad contract if their dealing Kevin Martin.
