Duncan is a three time finals MVP. Two time league MVP. Selfless player, great teammate. His team was .244 before they drafted him, and its worst season since (with amazing turnover in the supporting cast) has been .640. Last ten seasons he's never missed the playoffs, he's lost in the first round only once. And San Antonio is as likely as any team in the West to make the finals again. Again, I love Nash, he's a great player, but if I want a ring, I take Duncan. He's been the most successful basketball player in the world the last decade, the Bill Russell of his generation.
Duncan actually hasn't even lost in the first round. He was injured and didn't play during the 1999-2000 playoffs, that's why they were bounced in round 1.
