Bynum Missing All-Star
Bynum is 2nd in the league in FG%.
Bynum is 9th in blocked shots
Bynum is 10th in rebounding
Bynum will be an All-Star next season if he can become a top 30 scorer. Currently he isnt top 70 yet but he is breaking out.
If Bynum were listed as a center on this years ballot he might have gotten in because he is only 20. Kobe was on the ballot early because of the hype his third season. I wish Bynum would get consideration.

Duncan is a forward... Bynum would stand a chance because of the Lakers record. Individuals get rewarded for team success. Howard and Butler got noticed because of the improvement of their play and how it affected each s team. Bynum has had a huge effect on this ball club.

Like Jeff Van Gundy said last night, he can still get voted in by the coaches.

Bynum has more upside than D12.
i love bynum, but unless you use the extra 3-4 inches of height as the reason, i can't agree with you.
they both have almost no ceiling.

What do you mean make him earn it? Why hasn't he earned it?
We are earth people on a spiritual journey to the stars. Our quest, our earth walk, is to look within, to know who we are, to see that we are connected to all things, that there is no separation, only in the mind.

I'm not taking anything away from D12, he's an amazing player and athlete, but he is 22 and is on a team built around his strengths. Bynum has 2 full years of growth potential on him and is already putting up comparable numbers per 48.
I can't wait to see Bynum next season (age 21 season) getting D12 minutes (thirty-eight) with the offense being run through him (tri-post)
can you say 25/15/3.5 ?
Gotta love Bynum's 70% from the FT line - that full percentage point over D12 carries a lot of weight in regards to points/game
edit: (38) to (thirty-eight)

There's a big, big difference between doing what Andrew's doing, picking his spots as a second or third option, and what Dwight does by averaging 20 a night as the focal point of the team.
That doesn't make it easier, it makes it harder.
The opposing team knows what's coming, and they gear their defensive effort to stop him. Thanks in large part to Kobe and our stable of outside shooters, Andrew doesn't get nearly the same attention.
He's not even at the stage where he's drawing a consistent double-team yet. Howard gets that treatment almost every time he touches the ball.
I love Andrew's game, and I love his progress. I'm thrilled with what he's done this year. But be serious....averaging 25 and 15? I think the last guy to do that might have been either Moses in the early 80s or Kareem in the 70s.
Andrew's only just starting to scratch the surface. He's got a lot to learn before he puts up numbers like that, if ever.

I didn't know 25/15 was that rare of a feat. However, Bynum's 640 FG% and rebound/scoring output per (29- his current mpg) extrapolate extremely/rarely well if given starters minutes.
As rare as 25/15 is, tell me how many 20 year old big men are doing or have ever done what Bynum is doing per 29 MPG?
I don't know where your thought is, but its going to be a matter of picking poison between doubling Bynum and Kobe. The Tri-Post offense is going to do wonders for maximizing Bynum's offensive output.
I haven't watched many Magic games this year, but they have some very nice parameter players (Lewis, Reddick, Nelson, Turkoglu, etc) to spread the floor for him. Its not like its D12 with Kobe's (03,04 & 04,05) cast around him, it might be an exaggeration to say he gets doubled every time he touches the ball.
Also, I disagree with your comment about it being harder to score when you're the focal point of the offense. Not only do you get more chances to score in that situation, (teammates are looking for you, and trusting you, and offensive strategy/plays are drawn up for you) but you also get complimentary players (Cooks, Nelsons, Rashard Lewis's..etc) to open the floor for you. I think it negates the double team argument you brought up.
Bynum is going to be a monster, and I stick to my original stance: his ceiling is higher than D12. But that also depends on what statistic you deem is worthy of more praise, I like Bynum's scoring/block potential more. Where D12 is probably going to be the better on ball defender and rebounder but not by much.

He deserves consideration for the All-Star team. His stats don't really tell the whole story for Bynum.
He has improved dramatically and is being praised by many coaches and GMs around the league.
He probably won't be one this year but if he improves at this rate, he'll be an All-Star for years to come.
