True, but fortunately I dont think CV is the Sixers long term answer at PF. He is certainly a better starter than Reggie Evans but I doubt the sixers would give up looking for that post presence

The trade is not bad, if I was Milwaukee I would probably hold on for something better. Carney looks like a worse version of Joey Graham and the pick will not likely fetch anything useful.

This does nothing for the Bucks. We don't even get a PF back and a pick two years from now that will be in the low 20's at best and if it's not we don't get it anyways.

CV for that price would be great for PHI.

If it's not surrendered by that point, I believe that it converts to a 2nd rounder and cash. Very low risk trade for Philly, in that regard.

Yeah, that makes the trade bad for the Bucks. The difference between CV and Carney is more than a very late first round pick. If the pick could be in the 15-20 range in the next year or two then it's about right. But this pick can't be.

Simply put, Milwaukee passes. Rodney Carney isn't worth anywhere near what Charlie Villanueva is. Sure the first is a nice kicker, but the fact that Milwaukee could be waiting three or four years till it gets its return on it is very troublesome. Carney is undersized for the small forward position which is where Milwaukee needs help at this point. The fact that Carney has trouble consistently breaking into the rotation is rather troublesome.

This would be an absolute steal for Philadelphia. I have no doubt in my mind that Villanueva, if named a starter, would be good for 15-17 points and 7-8 rebounds. The problem in Milwaukee is that he really doesn't compliment our team. With the defensive liabilities we have in our backcourt, Bogut would be relied upon way to much on the defensive side of the ball if Villanueva got heavy minutes.

huh?

Carney is a very long 6'6". His wide wingspan is capable of covering a lot of ground on the court. Offensive deficiencies aside, Carney is the prototypical NBA 3 in terms of size and athleticism.

I can certainly understand if you don't like his game. But undersized for the small forward position? Have you seen him play? He's built for the 3-spot. With his frame, he would be a perfect fit at small forward. He just can't shoot or dribble. That's his problem. Not size.

Rodney Carney is not the "prototypical NBA 3" in terms of size. Athleticism, sure. But size no. He was measured at 6'5.75 WITH shoes on at the pre-draft camp less than two years ago. His wingspan was measured at 6'10 inches. In comparison, here are some other notable small forwards drafted since 2000.

Darius Miles 6'9 with shoes, 7'2 wingspan.
Mike Miller 6'9 with shoes, 6'10.5 wingspan
Desmond Mason 6'7.25 with shoes, 7'0 wingspan
Quentin Richardson 6'6.25 with shoes, 7'0.5 wingspan
Morris Peterson 6'7.5 with shoes, 6'10 wingspan
Shane Battier 6'9.5 with shoes, 6'10.5 wingspan
Richard Jefferson 6'8.5 with shoes, 7'0 wingspan
Bobby Simmons 6'7.5 with shoes, 7'0.25 wingspan
Mike Dunleavy 6'9.5 with shoes, 6'9 wingspan
Caron Butler 6'6.5 with shoes, 6'11.5 wingspan
John Salmons 6'7 with shoes, 6'10.5 wingspan
Matt Barnes 6'8 with shoes, 6'9 wingspan
Lebron James 6'8 with shoes, 7'0.25 wingspan
Carmelo Anthony 6'7.5 with shoes, 7'0 wingspan
Josh Howard 6'6.5 with shoes, 7'2 wingspan
Luke Walton 6'9 with shoes, 6'8.5 wingspan
James Jones 6'8.75 with shoes, 7'2.5 wingspan
Kyle Korver 6'7.75 with shoes, 6'9.5 wingspan
Josh Childress 6'7.25 with shoes, 6'11 wingspan
Luol Deng 6'8 with shoes, 7'0.5 wingspan
Andre Iguodala 6'6.75 with shoes, 6'11.5 wingspan
Josh Smith 6'8.25 with shoes, 7'0 wingspan
Marvin Williams 6'8.25 with shoes, 7'3.5 wingspan
Martell Webster 6'7.5 with shoes, 6'11 wingspan
Danny Granger 6'8.5 with shoes, 7'1.5 wingspan
Adam Morrison 6'7.75 with shoes, 6'10 wingspan
Rudy Gay 6'8 with shoes, 7'3 wingspan
Renaldo Balkman 6'6.5 with shoes, 7'1 wingspan
Kevin Durant 6'10.25 with shoes, 7'4.75 wingspan
Jeff Green 6'9.5 with shoes, 7'1.25
Corey Brewer 6'7.75 with shoes, 6'8.25 wingspan
Thaddeus Young 6'7.5 with shoes, 6'11.5 wingspan
Al Thornton 6'7 with shoes, 7'1 wingspan
Julian Wright 6'8.5 with shoes, 7'2.25 wingspan

Of all those players, ZERO are shorter than Rodney Carney. Of all those players FIVE of them have shorter wingspans than Rodney Carney. There are 34 players listed right there. Some players like Hedo Turkoglu and Tayshaun Prince among others had to be excluded from the list due to their measurements not being available. He's undersized BEFORE you factor in his weight.

I was a big Rodney Carney guy leading up to the draft until his measurements came out. As soon as they did, I was off the bandwagon. If you refute that he's undersized for the small forward position, you just make yourself look like an idiot.
