Has Powe not earned minutes?
Seriously this kid has some potential and played fine for us last year when given the opportunity. I certainly saw him getting more minutes than he has and more than Big Baby overall but it just hasnt happened for him. We could use another piece or two so if he is not in our cards then we should unload him, he has to have some value, the guy is all heart; a beefier more well rounded offensively version of Chuck Hayes.
Personally, I would love to see 5 mins or so, maybe in the middle of the second quarter of a front line consisting of Posey, Baby and Powe. Against certain teams that can really do some damage. On many occasions heart can cancel out height.

I despise fans that cheer on a team from up north or one that resembles a dinosaur. oh wait...

I just don't see it. What mins is Scal playing? 6.5. He just doesn't do anything on a night in/night out basis to take mins from Davis and Posey. He might be a better player than Scal but he can't shoot from deep, pass the ball and he lacks size, and while Scal may only be passable at those things that is why he frequently comes into the game.

Im not saying Scal gets mins Im just saying on the occasion when Scal comes in Id rather see Powe.
I dont remember the last shot Ive seen Scal make, Scal does pass the ball well but I dont see how Powe lacks size?

no, powe hasnt earned minutes
i like him better than scal, but scal does things for us powe cannot....as was mentioned earlier
that said, i say look to move him while his value is relatively high
in the right system he could be a very good role player, just not for us right now with our current roster

Scal sucks that isn't my point. He has three point range when Doc puts in shooters he gets to go in. Powe is 6'7" of couse he lacks size. Scal is 6'10" if you want some to go guard the inbounds then he is your guy. He gets situation mins, out of timeouts and inbounds to help run plays. He is a veteran guy who knows what to do. Leon may be that someday and maybe more he just isn't now.

sadly Powe hasn't improved much from last year to this one. i was hoping for a bigger jump. sigh. i think he has potential but he needs to develop it. i would like to see him instead of scal but let's face it, when our team is healthy scal isn't even in the rotation so it really doesn't make much difference.

I would like to know your basis for making this statement. Other than a few garbage time minutes we haven't even seen him play this year.
In the summerleague he was awesome and Doc said he would play alot in the regular season.

I really like Leon Powe and I'd love to see him succeed as a Celtic. Still, he seems to be the only player on the roster (not counting Gabe Pruitt, who hasn't even played) who seems not to have found his groove in the new system. Yes, he has only played garbage minutes, but in those minutes you could see that he's where he was last year

Don't get me wrong I think in the long run (and apparently this year) that Big Baby is the better prospect, but I figured Powe would be getting more mins this year....I would love to see them paired together.

Powe should be used selectively when we need a spark, especially with rebounding/toughness like we need against the Sixers. He probably shouldn't be getting regular rotation minutes, but he should be used situationally.
Next year, a Powe/Big Baby frontcourt off the bench could be pretty good IMO. They both play hard and provide a lot of energy and toughness. Although they are undersized, I don't think they'll lose too many rebounding battles against other benches. I like the combination of Big Baby's finesse game with Powe's power game.

Leon Powe is a very intriguing player, and I cannot help but think he is just what this team needs off the bench to toughen up on the boards and create points.
What distinguishes Leon from many other 6-6 rebounders is that he can score. He can get to the line. He can be a real asset offensively and his offense is all within five feet of the rim.
If he develops an open mid-range shot, not entirely absurd, he has a very real career in front of him.
If Leon can hold his own defensively he is a solid rotation player. I would like to see him get steady minutes. At least a shift per game unless they match-ups are horrible. We are going to need what Leon has at some point to win a game in the playoffs. This team has a tendency to get beat on the bopards and to stagnate offensively, two things Leon helps address. So let's get him on the floor before then.
I think Leon will have a real NBA career, not Justin Reed Orien Greene Brandon Hunter redux.
Plus everyone who knows him loves him. He is magic for team chemistry. Scal on steroids.
I have always loved Leon's game, and last night was no fluke.
