Yup. To me, Wells is critical. He not only solidifies the wing position and gives the starting lineup a considerable upgrade but including him in the deal also removes Villanueva. It's a win-win for the Bucks. If it can be done without the 2008 first, it's a no-brainer. If the first has to be included, I'd make it a Top 10 protected pick at least.
Wells is not critical. He isn't going to make or break anything. Giving up a 1st round pick, protected or not, is ludicrous. Why is he critical when McGrady can play the 3? When we have Mason to back up the 2 and 3? Wells might solidify the position this year, but do you want to pay him to come back the next? He is 6'5'' by the way. He is stout, but I wouldn't say he is solid.
Villanueva has more value than you think. The guy could start on a couple of teams, and be the 6th man on a lot more. He shouldn't be a throw in on this deal, especially if we have to give up a 1st round pick.
