Tough call here. I don't think Ainge will bend over backwards to sign him. The reason I suggest this is, assuming Pollard is regarded as healthy enough to contribute, he's the 3rd center on the team behind Perkins and the only offensive option at the position, Big Baby, would should be considered the primary backup. I don't sense that Rivers would play Baby at the 4, so Ratliff would conceivably only be used as a specialist. If Ratliff were ammendable to this situation, sure, bring him in. The only consequence would be to knock Leon Powe completely out of the picture.
When talking about adding another big man, I more and more am starting to think that it's a typecast need at this stage. No centers. Think more along the lines of perimeter shooter PF if one can be attained. You're true gap isn't the guy on the blocks, but, an upgrade to Scalabrine which could push Posey into more reserve 3 minutes and buy more rest for Pierce.
EDIT: In my mind, of all the final contract year guys who may get bought out as a nice gesture (i.e. chance to go to contender), the two most fitting to what I described above are Kurt Thomas and 'ole buddy Antoine Walker. Walker, I know, has two years left, but it wouldn't shock me if he and McHale came to an agreement that he's mentor for 1/2 of the year on a young team and Kevin would set him free around the deadline. Believe me, I'm no big Walker fan, but if he accepts playing the role meant for him, finally, his addition opens up more possibilities for the roster as a whole (one example stated in my comments above).

Theo might block a few shots but not really a DPOY threat like Camby anymore - come on people. Maybe he is worth the vet min - but its not even clear he would be better then Webber at this point..
Theo bad mouthed boston a bit when he left so I imagine he would go to Phoenix anyway. They can have him as far as I am concerned.

No, just to the start of this season...He looked good in those 6 games...
The problem is he probably won`t be able to stay healthy. If he does, he can help this team. But that is a big if...

how often does pollard play? 10mins a game every 8 games? that's what theo would give us. Signing him won't hurt the team. But having a 3rd string big man who is one of the best defensive big men and shotblockers for the playoffs would be a big help. U don't want to have to see leon guarding D. Howard in overtime in a playoff series because perk/pollard/baby were already fouled out.

If Theo can still defend. That is a very big 'if'.
