Alright, tell me if I'm offbase in this and forgive me for the exercise. This may be vague and/or rambling. Or it could be short, I don't know I haven't written it yet. But these are some feelings I have. Some of it may be contradictory, it is purely subjective and I could be off my rocker. They have no order to them and I don't have time to create fully worded post.
1. We are trying to run a system, offensively and defensively and establish an identity.
2. Therefore we are always looking to execute. In this structure system can trump talent.
3. In the NBA, as previously noted, great teams can run their stuff but need to be able to improvise and "make plays", therefore talent is always required.
4. Jose is excellent at running a system and making sound decisions whether it be in the half court, or on the run.
5. I don't think Jose can break guys down or create his own shot. A broad statement yes, and I'm sure there are examples in which he has, but that being said, I think it's safe to say, especially against the better teams.
6. I have always felt Jose is more dynamic when he is playing at warp speed and being aggressive.
7. Good defensive teams get tougher at the end of the shot clock, while weaker teams will inevitably make mistakes.
8. I think against top teams, TJ may be better for a slower pace because he can break teams down, while Jose is better when he is pushing in transition because then he doesn't have to deal with a set defence.
9. Maybe Jose just needs a suitable backup so he can play balls out.
10. I think TJ needs to play slower while Jose needs to play faster.
