I agree being 100% would've helped...but we had that game.
Ronny had an insane 1st half and Phil benched him almost the entire 3rd quarter...that's ridiculous.
He went 6.5 minutes of no scoring without making a move...thats arrogant and plain stupid imo.
Pop is definately the best coach in the league. I've thought so for a while now too.

I don't know. It's not like Phil didn't notice. Phil works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, I think he chooses to let his players lose on their own account for the sake of learning to handle things on their own.
He probably expected them to react in a very specific way that he has told them a million times, and he wasn't going to bail them out. Nationally televised classroom... Losing hurts. Lesson learned? Thanks Phil.

Kobe did turn the ball over a lot, but it wasn't because he was particularly sloppy or careless.
He was charged with two questionable offensive fouls, and one traveling call when Kwame threw a bad outlet pass. The other 6 turnovers were all in the fourth quarter, mostly picked off by the Spurs guards, mostly Ginobili, who overplayed the passing lanes the entire game, since he didn't have to guard anybody.
Most of those passing turnovers were committed when Kobe tried to get his teammates involved on forced post entry passes. That was either Phil or Kobe's fault. That played right into San Antonio's hands. On the other hand, the laker forwards should have done a better job sealing off their man, especially when they have a size advantage all night.
But on the other hand, you have to give San Antonio's defense credit. With Duncan protecting the basket, it allows the guards to overplay the passing lanes. That's the Spurs' great defensive strategy, and they turned it on in the 2nd half.
Also give Popovich credit. He anticipated that Phil would force the ball into the post in the fourth quarter. Phil, on the other hand, didn't have a counter to that.
I'm surprised Phil Jackson didn't try to post up Kobe in the 2nd half, particularly in the fourth quarter. That was really the key to our success in the first half. Turiaf was involved in dives towards the post and jumpers, not as a back-to-the-basket scorer.
Kobe throwing entry passes into Turiaf, Odom and Walton just wasn't a good 4th quarter strategy. If that was Kobe's call, it was a stupid decision. He should know better.
