Having Korver makes the Jazz a significantly better team.

I hope I am not just restating the obvious, and I'm not just saying this because the Jazz are 9-2 since he got here, but this guy makes the Jazz a much better team.

He is a perfect change of pace guy, he completely changes defensive schemes against the Jazz which really benenfit both Deron and Boozer, he spread the floor, provides instant offense, and knows his role.

It really makes you look back at Giri and realize everything he did wrong for the Jazz, no wonder he made Sloan and Johnson so crazy.

If Giri had stayed with the Jazz, only taken shots off the curl and open 3's when he got them he would have been a much better player, instead he felt it was neccesary to dribble the ball every time he caught it and play ridiculously over the top defense to the point where it hurt the rest of the team.

Korver knows his role, plays it to perfection and never tries to be someone he isn't. He knows Booz and Deron are the leaders and he finds his place between them.

This was a great trade for the Jazz, he fits in the offense, plays smart defense, doesn't turn the ball over and appears to be a great locker room guy.

This was a hell of a trade from KOC and the Jazz and I commend both the Jazz brass and Korver.

Will see later... His defense comes to his objective level right now, but I hope for the best..

He really is as important as Hornacek. Even though he isn't hitting a fantastic amount of threes, everyone knows that is what he can do. He hits free throws which is huge and he can hold his own on the rest of the skills necessary to be a NBA player. It is definitely something that doesn't show up in the box score, it is something you notice by watching a lot.

I love what Brewer does but it doesn't quite compare. He is able to be one of the guys in the mix, rather than a guy like Korver who is a huge distraction to the other team. We need both guys at different times and that is what is making the difference for this team not falling apart like they used to.

It's amazing what having a free-throw shooter does for a team's confidence, Jazz up 4 with a minute to go seems much more of a sure thing then ever before with a 90% guy taking the line.

Plus it seems like Deron likes him, definitely more then he did Giri.

Does having Korver make Kirilenko even more expendable?

Not really, I think Korver and Andrei compliment each other very well. With Andrei and Deron's playmaking ability on the court at the same time and scorers like Memo, Booz and Korver, these guys will be getting a lot of open shots.

That said, if we continue to suck on the road I'm sure everyone is expandable except maybe Deron.

I've always liked Korver a lot, even when he was in Philly. I was pretty happy to get him and I'm excited about our future together.

Korver will help us win more games for 2 reasons:

1) He CAN hit the 3, and if he can hit it pretty well. Whether he is hot or not, teams know he can hit it. So they must respect him and not let him stay wide open. This opens up the paint for Boozer, less double teams, more 20 and 10 performances for Carlos.

2) He hits free throws. Something nobody else does consistently on this team, not even Memo. If you want to close out games on the road, you need to make free throws. Korver does this.

I think we're utilizing him well. He doesn't need a bigger role. He's doing great just like he is. Come off the bench and give us a quick 10-18 points and I'm happy.

I swear on of the happiest days of my life is when I read that Gordan was traded for Korver.

Actually I think the opposite. It lets Andrei do more on the court, and even be on the court in situations where maybe before Korver he couldnt.

That and Andrei all of a sudden has become a 3pt specialist.

Andrei Kirilenko is having a fantastic season. And he's doing it quietly, thats the best part. Teams dont really pay attention to him, and before the night is over, he's got 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and as always has helped a great deal on defense....

Yeah, every game this year the other teams announcers seemed shocked when hits a three. Then they look and see he is hitting 37% of them.

And Korver plays defense. Giri, was on and off. Hope Korver stays on.

far too soon to tell. keep in mind the schedule has been VERY soft, that is the real reason why the jazz have been winning ball games of late. the only tough team they've played during this stretch was denver and got blown out.

I think the point is that this team is significantly better with Korver than with Giri. We uncontestably got better with this trade. Nobody is saying that Korver was THE missing piece, just that we're better than we were before.

That's all fine and dandy, but that's not Giricek's strenght....... It's like making Jarron Collins the team's starting point guard and then complaining becqause he doesn't do what you think a point guard should do........

Giricek is a slasher, he can shoot from the outside, but his game is based on driving....... Trying to take that away from him and making hm a spot up shooter was one of the dumbest things Jerry ever did.......

(By the way, this is not to say that I don't like Korver, quiet the opposite, I think he has been great, but let's imagine for a second what it would be like if Sloan decided to make Korver drive the ball more rather than utilize his strenght of a quick release, it wouldn't be pretty.......)

Yeah he was a great driver all right, his traveling and getting to the line (1 freethrow, the entire year for the Jazz...1 **** freethrow) that sure as hell was his strength.. :noway:

I think the Korver trade for Giri was a GREAT move. Kover is everything Giri was but slightly better.

With that said, if Sloan gave Giri the green light like he as to Korver (notice that Korver is taking shots early in the shot clock) than I think Giri would have been a much better player here.

Edited to add on the point that Korver will have salary cap implications, but even then I take it... as long as we don't lose a big piece.
