The biggest reason behind trading for Wally should be that next year his contract holds value of Theo Ratliff proportions.
Roy's the best player I've played against outside this guy from my hood in Queensbridge, guy named Mike Chaplain. He went to jail when he was 15 years old. He was the best player I played against, now it's Brandon Roy.

lol, I don't get how it would be anything but a sideways move that would leave us with $10+ mill in cap space in 2009/10. Trading for Wally wouldn't be as horrible as you suggest. If the added cap space allows up to sign a solid starter, we clearly win the trade. Not like Kapono and Garbo are doing much for us right now. Garbo was GREAT for us last season, but we added too many players that make him not neccessary anymore.

Dude has a big ego and even worse shot selection than Delfino... Plus he's a tool like some people here mentioned... And Delfino and Moon will both be better than he is very soon..

In short... We don't need him....

Wow, what an arrogant response. Fortunately BC's pressing for someone with grit and toughness so that certainly eliminates all possibilities with him.

If the rumours about his attitude are even remotely true, I just don't want him near the team, cap space be damned.

AFter playing for Boston and Seattle, I'm guessing he'd welcome any winning environment. But yeah, def. wouldn't be thrilled about adding him either. But making a trade for him sound like a huge mistake is just silly. He wouldn't make much of a difference either way, and his contract could be a positive if dealt for kapono and others

If he's dealt FOR Kapono, then possibly. Having Rasho and Szczczcz coming off the books in the same offseason might be a huge bonus.

I doubt Seattle is looking to take on long term contracts though, a la Kapono.

Yeah, that's why the only way I'd trade for him would be a three way deal involving a team like Miami. Trading for him while keeping Kapono would make no sense... even if the value was good.

Wally = more expensive version of Kapono.

I'll say it once again, just because a players available doesn't mean he's a good fit in Toronto.

why?
we already have delfino, kapono, moon etc
What we need is a way to package up a bunch of our mediocre talent and turn it into 1 great SF

My thinking is that $11+ mill in cap space in 2009/10 (if we can shed Kapono's $6 mill) might be able to get us that great SF faster than waiting for a solid trade might.

YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT!!!

$13M+ next year- YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT!!!

For that kind of money you have got to be looking for a "TOP" or close to it kind of contributor and as well, a better defender than Wally.

It's all about managing the cap. Are Dixon, Garbo, and Kapono doing much more for us than Wally Z could by himself?? They're worth $13 mill combined. We have Ukic and a draft pick coming in next season, so we can afford to give up some of our depth seeing how we're not even using it all.

And why would Seattle take Kapono and his 4 year deal?

Remember, they are rebuilding...
