This same team(add thomas, minus hill) made the wcf that OUTPLAYED the spurs & should have won.
What is with all this "suns had no chance of winning anyways" talk? You take out sterns unjustly suspension & 1-sided officiating... The suns win the title last year.
The suns major problem is defense so they go & lose there best defensive player to pick up a defensive liability? To do what? work a balanced half court offense. That takes away from the suns strength.
Nothing about this trade makes sense.
phx suns with kurt thomas, matrix, & 2 1st rd picks >>>> phx suns with 36old shaq that still has 40mil\2 years left on his contract. Present & future.

Not that simple.
But in being talented, that's just offensively for what they do.
If the Suns had better defense and a more versatile offense, I'd say the Suns probably have a title by now.
Having a good talent level offensively is just a partial requirement of a championship-caliber team. And, in that offensive talent, it has to be diverse.
The Playoffs don't care about your Analytics

And I gurantee you, if things go south, Suns fans and the media will blame Kerr instead of looking to what created such a desperation move in the first place (although, I think, they had a decent shot with some luck if they would've just stuck with Marion).
Wow. Whatever dope your smoking or pills you're popping - you need to stop. It's screwing up your comprehension abilities.
I love fans like you.......... saying a player who won B2B MVP awards "sucks" ........... f-'in hater.

..............you'd think being a Laker fan you might understand how this is going to be handled. Remember a guy by the name of Kareem? Unless you're 15 you should know that an aging Kareem found plenty of success playing with the Magic Johnson led "Showtime" Lakers as they ran it plenty.
Fact is, you don't need 5 f-'in guys to run a fast break.....that's a CLUSTER FARK ........ However, you do need a big who can clean up on the boards and make the outlet pass to players streaking up court. Shaq is one of the best passing big men in the game. It's not like other teams centers are running like gazelles to get back on D either. The Suns can still effectively run their 7 second shot clock .....and if they don't, then they will set up into a half court offense with Shaq.
How are you going to guard that? Amare/Shaq command so much attention down low and that leaves their awesome 3 point shooters open (Nash, Bell, Barbosa) not to mention Nash is going to be pickin' and poppin' and getting the ball to Shaq in ways he's never had the priviledge.

Maybe 3 years ago but the jury is out on if Shaq can still be a force.
...........obviously, but all we have to do is look at how he's handled all of his situations. When he's disinterested it's not going to work. Common sense here - you really think he was trying to get back on the court for that 9 -37 Heat team? Heck no. They practically let go all of the role players that made that team go. His tenure with the end of the Lakers was the same thing as he became lazy and unmotivated.

Dude seriously, an aging Kareem was MUCH MUCH faster then an aging shaq. Im also aware that it doesn't take 5 guys to run the fast break, but why trade a guy who fits your system for a guy who doesnt? And I keep seeing this stuff about shaq being a force down low and "cleaning up the boards" but Marion is averaging more rebounds and has numbers just as good, if not better then, Shaq's down low. I also understand how Marion can't gaurd the bigs in the west, but Shaq hasn't exactly done a great job of gaurding opposing bigs this season either, and he plays in the east.

Your 100 percent right. Shaq has a lot to prove and he always prove his doubters wrong.
