OT: Hawks finally get fined for shady scorers

Post#1 » by seanbig » Thu Feb 7, 2008 10:44 am

after shaving points off TO, the hawk gets his day.

Shaq didn't foul out of a heat game, so now they have to play another 56 secs. Problem is now shaq is in the desert, and won't be paying back those 56 secs as his swansong for the heat.

The fine itself was given a few weeks ago, when the replay was first announced.

Stupid Atlanta.

This is so weird. I've been watching basketball my whole life and this is the first time I've heard of them replaying a section of a match. I don't quite get how it's going to work though. Are they playing another game that day anyway? Are they going to begin this 57 second game before the game that was originally scheduled? I wonder if/how this effected any book keepers...

Weird.

That would be cool, they shoudl nationally televise the game.. I woudl love to see that...

play game one.... whoever loses, gets a chance to redeem themselves in a 56 second 2nd game... LOL... a one minutes chance to make the series 1-1 or 2-0... I want to see it.

I previously read that they'll simply play right before the actual full game. So fans will technically get two game in one.

it would be cool if they made them run the exact same plays that were run at the end of the previous game.

bob McCowan had david stern on yesterday and point blank asked him why the replay for the heat and not the raptors his response was that it didn't affect the outcome as much as the miami game and that fouling out a player that is crucial to the team's defense, him being the centre, was more important.

i bet it is for that exact reason why the hawks were fined, stern was not upset at the question, he said he can understand Bob's argument.

They would probably just add it on to the game to there next game after it finished. They would have tickets for it as a separate function.

I'm sure your opinion would change had it been a mistake made by a Raptor scorer instead. :-?

I bet Miami will flop it anyways since they want the loss, and Atlanta wants the win for playoff reasons.

Is one game really going to make miami better?

Between crooked refs and scorekeepers its almost as if teams should employ guys who watch for suspicious activities when games are playing. Just have them watch the scoreboard and watch for any patterns with the refs calls as well. This stuff is happening just to often. BC should hire me!

Atlanta should get new management while they're at it.

some replies on this thread, wow.

it's obviously going to be a closed game. you'll never see tickets for 56secs of play.

as for the situation, it's funny now with the Shaq trade.

however, it was the first time that (a section of) a game has been replayed. last year, it was the guys who managed the scoreboard's fault but it was a different situation as none of our personnel contested the score before it was too late.
