No, we were pretty happy with that deal too, and would probably do it again. Humphries didn't fit in Utah at all, so we got out of his contract.

The reason we don't do this is because we don't want to take back lesser parts for Kirilenko (and the Joey Graham substitution just "so Toronto can have cap flexibility" is completely laughable).

Got out of his contract? You traded him for a guy drafted 6 spots higher in the same draft; unless that is going from the first round to the second, that is never getting out of a contract.

I'm not trying to say Toronto fleeced you, but that excuse makes absolutely no sense.

Humphries had one extra year left on his contract when he was traded. Rafael "6 Fouls" Araujo was expiring. When you don't want either player, you take the one with the shorter deal. That's what I mean when I say we got out of his contract.

I'm glad you guys got some use out of Humphries...but Utah wouldn't have. So we saved a little money instead (you guys also took Whaley and cut him for us, so we saved some more), and we don't regret it.

They were taken in the same draft, so unless you guys picked up Humphries fourth year option, which I'm 99% sure was us, as you had no reason to, their contracts would have expired at the same time. And the difference between Araujo and Humphries contracts in '06 was $700 000; us taking Whaley saved far less than that. So, sorry, but you didn't just not save money, you paid to get rid of Humphries.

Edit:

Check it:

transactions: Toronto Raptors exercised their contract option for the 2007-08 season.

Fair enough...I am old and my memory fails me sometimes ;)

Nevertheless, we didn't want Humphries (or Whaley). At all. The fact that you guys get use out of Humphries is great, but we wouldn't have...so the idea that we got "fleeced" so badly that we'll never trade with the Raptors again is completely laughable.
