Here's a new deal.

Post#1 » by midranger » Sat Feb 9, 2008 8:14 pm

Yi (LA cash cow)
Simmons (returns to scene of crime)
Voskuhl (expiring whit guy)

for

Elton Brand (back to the mid-west)

Who blinks first here?

Simmons deal may be the deal breaker, but we could include another asset or two (pick, 3 million in cash, whatever). Puts Yi in a major Asian market to make money for Donald Sterling. Gives us the rugged (if injured) PF that we've been calling for for years.

Thats an interesting deal but I really am not real interested in getting a second low post player that would take alot away from Bogut....You can see how good Kaman is when he is the lone low post option for the Clips, easy to say thats because he has never had opportunities before this year. I want length, athleticism, and intelligence out of my 1,2, and 3 spots, thats where I would concentrate all my deals on.

Giving up? We turn Yi into one of the best power forwards in the NBA on BOTH ends of the floor.

Elton Brand has been our ideal PF for years. If healthy, he's light years better than Yi. Gaining him while dumping Simmons awful deal is hardly "giving up" on Yi. It's trying to imrove our situation. Obviously, there is a risk with Brand's injury/contract issues, but if he were risk free, no way I'd even be able to bring myself to propose this.

I'd be all over this deal. Then in the off season trade Redd for the number 5 pick where Gordon may be a possibility and then use our pick on D. Collison.

Collison
Gordon
Dez
Brand
Bogut

with Mo off the bench backing up both the point and the SG position.

So, you wouldn't bring in Elton Brand because you want Bogut to get more post touches? Well.......

Anyway, Brand had (before his injury at least) become one of the better midrange jumpshooters at the PF in the NBA and has a terrific face up game. He is by no means exclusively a low post PF.

no thanks....Yi will ban an all star next year, only due to the fact that he will be listed on the ballot

In all honestly, I believe we end up with the 7th or 8th pick, and will selcet Jared Bayless, or OJ Mayo, hopefully not Kevin Love

Wouldn't it be ironic if the Bulls drafted Gordon, then all these puds from Illinois who have been brutal toward him would be forced to cheer for him.

If we traded for Brand, we'd be in win now mode IMO. Starting two rookies doesn't really help that cause. I agree that other changes could be made, but I prefer to target another good vet.

Brand would be the perfect PF compliment to Bogut but as XTitan pointed out...we have to focus on our PG and SG positions before we make a trade like that. Brand is a beast but he needs the ball from time to time. Im not convinced at all that Mo and Redd would be able to play with such a talented PF or even know how to play with a player the caliber of Brand.

Dear god no. Bayless and Mayo. Those are two guys who DO NOT fit with this team.

Give me the likes of Rose, Gordon, Green, Batum, Collison, or Smith any day of the week.

 Brand was a legitimate MVP candidate a year or two ago. We definitely value our own players way too much on this board.

Oh by the way. Our interior defense after this deal goes from pretty bad to fantastic. In fact, I think it might open things up for CV to get some flex time at the three spot.

My point is simple, you don't see many teams with 2 low post options, someone gets left out....goes to building a team right, something we all know has not been done in Milwaukee, you have to look at how the pieces you add will compliment each other.....you'd also have to ask why the Clips would be dealing Brand? I think the perimeter for the Bucks needs a major overhaul and adding a 4 does nothing to improve that. You also have to look at the fact you'd be adding another huge contract, does that mean Bogut walks? I am in the camp you build around Bogut and Yi and this obviously would be a different direction.

Brand is NOT a low post player exclusively. He has an excellent midrange game and range on his jumper to 20 feet. He's a strong rebounder, great defender, and smart guy. He'd complement Bogut beautifully.

Would the Bucks be able to pay Bogut after adding Brands deal?

To further illustrate my point, last year, 70% of Brand's shots were jumpers.

I thought we could pay Bogut no matter what because we have bird rights on him?

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
