He is, we would continue on with A.J. and Law this year, with Salim as a third string back up. We'd play Francis next year and then decide whether or not to resign.

I'm assuming you're talking about Houston. Carl Landry could be included, but I think they would need to hold on to Aaron Brooks to solidify their future at guard.

Just one other thing to note: If cap space is a problem, we could send New Jersey someone like Shelden Williams to help with their big man problems instead of Lorenzen's expiring contract.

Is there a reason Houston would want to trade half of their team for Jason Kidd?

I dont think I like that trade. I value Chill more than Francis.

I value Harry the Hawk more than Francis. I mentioned this in a thread 2-3 months ago. Francis has always been a bad lockeroom guy who is always me-first. The only difference now is that he is a me first guy with a bad attitude who doesn't have the HOF physical ability that he once had.

Yeah, half their team isn't that great, and Kidd makes everyone on the team better.

I understand that concern completely. Where I think we differ is that I think that Francis has been humbled and will be willing to become a team oriented player to restore the credibility. What I think that everyone is overlooking is that it is worth what we are giving up. If we can't find another point guard (in other words if he can't get Calderon), why not do this trade? We're only giving up expiring contracts, and Chill, and we get so much verteran leadership on defense, along with 3 point shooting from Battier. If Francis doesn't work out, so what? What have we lost? We just won't re-sign him. It's worth a shot.

If you don't like the cap space though, I put together a simplier one with Shelden for Francis + fillers. Once again, Shelden is a player they could use, that we don't use. Francis could be a very cheap solution to our point guard problems for the next three years. If he isn't, who cares, I'd rather have the cap space of trading Shelden than have Shelden.
