Luke Ridnour for Malik Rose

Post#1 » by Ricepilar » Wed Feb 13, 2008 2:25 pm

The Knicks apparently want Ridnour, which I guess makes some sense. Rose's contract is a year shorter and he's a good leader.

I'd rather keep Luke than add another very average big. Seattle has about 50 average bigs.

The one thing the Knicks need is another no-defense G with a long contract.

^^^^^^^That's true, plus Luke's fragile psyhe would get torn to shreds in New York.

Both sides hate it, perfect let's put it to bed.

What if the Knicks offer Jerome James instead?

That would make Sam Presti laugh even harder....

BTW: Ridnour's a BYC player and the Knicks are way over the cap and don't have the contracts to Sonics would be looking for.

That's why i don't see anything happening between those two teams, as long as there isn't a third team involved, taking on what the Knicks would like to trade.

If the Sonics wants a shorter deal, they better trade him for an expiring contract and thats what makes sense.

What about a Wally/Luke for Marbury trade? Sonics clear cap room a year earlier and the Knicks add a pg and Wally's deal is the same length as Marburys.

I doubt the Sonics want Marbury's cheerful demeanour and leadership skills anywhere near their young team.

How much would it cost to buy out Marbury?

I'm guessing a lot. He has about $30M left on his contract right now.

And even if a team saves money long-term, it's a lot different paying guys to suit up than it is paying them to go away. Not every team is owned by Paul Allen.

I understand the Knicks want L Ridnour. Because he's BYC the only way I see the Sonics accepting that deal is part of a larger 3 team trade where the Sonics take back F Jones' expiring contract.

However, having said that, I also agree with wiff that L Ridnour is not the right guy to be playing in the Big Apple subject to the associated media attention. But who knows, maybe coming in after a guy like S Marbury, a sincerely nice guy like small town L Ridnour would be a breath of fresh air to New York.
