here is my opinion. Arenas makes his teammates play worse than if there was a real PG there, HOWEVER his offensive skill is so much higher than his teammates that it more than cancels out, so the Wizards are a better team with him even though he makes his teammates worse.

the question is not if a team becomes worse with a player, it is who makes their teammates worse. Bosh and Arenas for example are the reason their teams are good, but their success is inversely related to the success of their teammates. It just so happens that both players are so good that they can carry their teams.
