Lebron or Kobe: Defense only

Post#1 » by Jules Winnfield » Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:25 pm

Who's a better defender?

Lebron's defense is much improved, but I think Kobe's been a defensive player of the year candidate behind Camby and Garnett. Others might disagree.

Although Kobe's defense is over-hyped, Lebron's defense has been recently over-over-hyped.

Kobe.

While LeBron's defense has been very, very good this season, Kobe's has been better.

One has to wonder how much more hype Kobe would be getting if the Lakers, as a team, were as good defensively as the Cavs.

Agreed. Kobe is one of the best perimeter defenders. I'd put him 4th behind Bowen, Battier and Artest.

I've been impressed with LeBron's D this year and I think he'll continue to improve.

LeBron's has improved a lot this year, but Kobe is much smarter and more versatile defensively, and significantly superior on the ball while LeBron is probably a little better off the ball.

Kobe, Lebron has been extremely overrated.

Kobe and it's not even close. Lebron James is a GREAT defender, but Kobe Bryant is a ELITE defender.

This is correct. Sure LeBrons been good but the team is nothing without his offense. Until he gets better players around him he'll never be able to expend as much energy on defense.

that's what happened to Kobe in 05-06, he had to put up at least 35 a night to get his a team a win. Played great D, but he had 9 years of NBA experience by then.

Cavs were 4th last season and are 18th this season. Lakers are currently sitting at 8th this season, so we're getting there. Bynum's improvement has been vital in regards to how much energy Kobe can use on D this season.

The Cavs are still a better defensive team because they have been missing their key players for so long which skewed their stats. They are a defense first team and the Lakers are a offense first team.

Lakers are neither offense first or defense first. They are more than above average defensive team. With Bynum back, we can have all the length that we have on the defensive side to match what the Pistons D is doing. (Not saying they we can be as effective. But we have the tools)
