They are gonna want a first rounder. They got one for Thomas.
Kurt Thomas was an expiring contract, while Wilcox has another year on his contract. So he was a little more valuable in terms of he's a quick fix with no future repercussions (like taking on a big contract).
There would be no reason for Seattle to do the deal if it wasn't for the 1st rounder, as they swapped expirings for expirings.
The Magic can offer Seattle expiring contracts for Wilcox, which is just as important to Seattle as picks are. In fact it may be more important now that they have so many 1st rounders. Eventually they're going to have to start looking to free agency instead of just loading up young talent.

And granted, I think Artest is more trouble than he's worth, but its hard to believe they had to give up expiring contracts AND a pick for a guy that Seattle has no plans for long-term.
Not so fast...
Are they still considering artest? Maybe

Saying that Wilcox is not worth exprings and a late first round pick is kind of silly in my opinion. He is signed for another year after this one on a very affordable contract and provides low post scoring and some rebounding. He only plays D when he wants to but he is definitely worth a late first.
