No, we got lucky in one draft and crossed our fingers that he never got hurt. If we had Okafor instead of Dwight, we would basically be the Sonics from last year.
Miami won a championship 2 years ago and have Wade and Marion plus they think they can get Brand this summer, which means their fans are ok if they draft a point guard like Rose.
The Heat are in trouble. They have 7 players guarenteed to be signed for next year and Marion has a player option.
They look to only be a couple million under the cap, and with that they will needs some type of miracle trade to get Brand.
The Heat are 9-38, they have several positions they need to fill and they, have anopther year before they're under teh cap enough to make a splash. Is that really a situation they want?
As for lucky? How the heck did we ge lucky? We went against the grain of what most people were telling us to do and took a chance on a high school kid like Dwight. The team did their scouting and decided he was the best guy to take number 1. Not only did we do that but we traded nothing for a decent PG in Jameer.
Lucky? We made moves without having to trade Turk, a player taht most teams including the Sonics this past summer, have bene asking for. Turk has without a doubt been huge for this team this year.
Lucky? Our wins have gone from 21 wins to 36 wins to 40 wins and now on pace for well over 50.
I dunno about you guys, but this team has improved progressivly and teh future is very bright.
Sorry the Magic aren't out to try and just win now, but why throw everything away to grab some 30 something star in his twighlight who has a bad contract, or a journeyman PF who will improve our team marginally, but not guarentee any more success than we are having now, who has a bad contract with 2-3 years left on it.
