You are absolutely right, though, that on our board (and I'm sure almost every team's board is the same) we ask every year if we are true championship contenders. And every year, the more rational of us agree that we have a shot, but its not a good one, and we aren't a top dog.

Mostly, we get fed up with how much disrespect our team gets, both from other teams' fans, and from the national media. Houston, despite being the 4th largest city in America is a relatively small sports market. We get very little media attention, and its noticeable even on nationally televised channels like ESPN and TNT that they generally talk about the other team a lot more than us, whether they are any good or not doesn't really matter (Van Gundy, aside, for obvious reasons)

Tmac hasn't made it out the 1st round. Its got to be one of the most frequent quotes on this board. Its also a really lame, generic, quote, that while true, is largely irrelevant. I don't want to turn this into a vindication thread, I just want to see the Rockets afforded some of the respect their play deserves.

With the exception of the Jazz series, which was considered generally pro Rockets but a close matchup by most national sports geeks, Houston (and Tmac) have NEVER been favored (or in the Orlando days, even considered relevant) to win a playoff series. We lost a game 7 down to the wire that out-executed us last year. But it was a good, well fought series.

The West has gotten even better than it was last year. We are currently on pace to win 52 games and are tied for the 7th seed, which is ridiculous.

If Houston makes it through March, beating a bunch of Western playoff teams...I think they are relevant. But just like every year, we can't smack talk, because we don't have any success. And in general, we don't. But it gets really old when fans from teams like the Jazz (who, by the way, have won no championships) hijack threads having nothing to do with them, and proceed to smack talk like they've won anything.

Good job Utah. You've beaten us while our best player didn't play, and we smashed yours at full strength earlier this season. You guys really, really don't have any ground to stand on concerning smack talk. Keep it on your own board, for Pete's sake.

Sure our schedule has been easy lately. As someone pointed out, I incorrectly described us as the best team of 2008.

QFT good post.

Someone will always face criticism on something they did bad or something they haven't done. Every team has something, and every player has something they have not achieved.

It is too early to speculate on Rox being in WCF. They do need to make out of first round first.

That is possible, though. People who laugh at the mere idea of Rox in WCF need to remember Twolves got into WCF after years of first round outs.

Things can change fast in NBA. Jazz made into WCF out of nowhere. And Heat has been stinking it up after a champion run.

It is tough in the WC, for ANY team.

who cares, I doubt anyone takes what he says seriously. He's probably creaming his pants right now since Shaq just called Amare the best big in the league.

Then again, there's always the chance that he realizes the Rockets have no chance at the WCF...

its not just this post.... look at his post history... its actually kinda creepy how much he acutally talks about the Rockets.... He is more of a anti-rocket fan than a Suns fan....

And any team in the playoffs has a chance in the western conference finals....

I don't have problems when people say we have a slim to none chance at making the WCF because it's true. The Rockets have a lot to prove and so far they have been a big letdown. But still it's incredibly annoying when one poster is constantly making the same boring redundant jokes over and over again.

Black Jesus : you don't like the Rockets we get the point.

We can't...we cross our fingers and hope. The point of the post was that you have no grounds to speak. Explain to me how a team wins 60 games every year...a guy wins MVP every year and that team never even sniffs the NBA Finals. Why is this?

We got our T-Mac first round issue. But is that really such a big deal when talking about the Suns have all that success but never reaching an NBA finals. Hell we have only been to the playoffs in 2 of the 4 years McGrady has been here. You guys are always deep in the playoffs but can't close the deal. Don't throw stones when you live in a much prettier glass house.

Meh. The fact that I know we're 1 piece away (hopefully it was Shaq) is better then Houston's case where you have no idea what to expect out of your team.

I haven't said anything bad about Houston for most of the season, guess they (posts) just stand out more

If the Rockets don't win, I'm going for SA and PHX. If it comes down to SA and PHX in the WCF, i'll decide during that time.

If the Rockets can win the next game against the Bobcats, then the Sunday game with the Lakers is HUGE. We just might be seeing the WCF preview.

Lots of people laughing at this prediction earlier.
