Owner Mark Cuban said before Friday's game he expects to sign two big men to fill out the 15-man roster, which was left shy of inside players when center DeSagana Diop was included in the trade to New Jersey for Jason Kidd.

Some obvious names might be on the Mavericks' radar.Jamaal Magloire was waived Friday by the Nets, and if he clears waivers he could be No. 1 on the Mavericks' list. The 6-11 center, in his eighth season, averaged 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 24 games for the Nets. However, as recently as 2005-06, he started all 82 games for Milwaukee and averaged 9.2 points and 9.5 rebounds

Others on the watch list include Justin Williams (waived by Sacramento) and Viktor Khryapa (waived by Chicago). Cuban said the team is hoping not to have to dip into the Development League to find replacements.

My choice would be Magloire but that doesn't matter... if Langlois says it's Davis then that's who it is... he has direct ties to Joe D (via NBA.COM)..
Welcome DD ... Mr. Cement foot...gag

I'm glad someone else said it.

Yawn.

If we had a series against Shaq then maybe I'd consider Dale Davis but thats pretty much the only situation.

I can't believe Dale Davis is our Plan A. I mean at least wait to be turned down by Magloire. Also didn't DD have some issues with his usage last season and missing practices and such.

Magloire's worth a shot though Dallas will probably offer more. I mean, are you saying Magloire can't give us what Dale Davis is gonna give us in all the 2 minutes he plays?

Dallas fans basically believe it's a forgone conclusion that Magloire will end up in Dallas. They have the money, the available playing time and some even believe that this might have been an unofficial part of the Kidd/Harris trade.

Well at least we didn't get any worse at the backup 5 spot...
Choosing between Brezec & Davis is like choosing a career path as a bathroom cleaner or septic removal.

Say what you want about Davis but he could help us in the right matchups. He's far better that Brezec. Dale Davis could help against Boston and big baby who destroyed us last time we played.

The eight-year pro from Toronto played in 24 games this season, averaging 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. He signed with the Nets in July.

The former all-star has averaged 8.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in 530 NBA games with Charlotte, Milwaukee, Portland and New Jersey.

Jamaal Magloire yesterday. The former All-Star, who arrived in mid-July talking of being a starting center for an NBA champion (in New Jersey, he meant), managed to get into only 24 games.

Coach Lawrence Frank wouldn't say whether the 6-11 center asked to be let out of his one-year, $4 million contract, but it was clear to both parties since the first month of the season that Magloire had no more than a stopgap role with the Nets."It's unfortunate the situation didn't work out for both, but I can't say enough about how professional he conducted himself in a very tough situation," Frank said. "There are some veterans in the same situation who would be very tough to be around, but he took the high road. He never ever put himself in an unprofessional light."

The release trims the active roster to 14 players, which means the Nets may consider adding a shooter with a 10-day contract.
