I think that trading for minor leaguers where you can already see what you're getting is a much safer way to rebuild it than letting a guy walk just to get a sandwich pick. Especially with you-know-who doing the drafting.
As for the other 3? Cat wouldn't have brought back a significant piece of any kind, he wanted to resign Lilly so he didn't deal him and I think he made a mistake holding on to Speier. Either way, Burnett would bring back a much more significant bounty than any of those 3 players would have.
