Now this amusing, and probably frustrating for Ryoga, I see the two other people who posted along with myself all felt the need to comment on Mutombo, but whereas I see saw the OP as almost right, the other two thought it was crazy. People need to chill.

lol @ Mutombo being out
Mutombo is a lock....his longevity, his production, his team success, his humanitarian work....
there's no reason not to include him
and Carter and McGrady are in the same tier, IMO, as far as HOF chances go...with his on the bubble, but likely out, unless they go deeper in the playoffs
plus you have LeBron in your likely out category o_O
i'd probably put Parkar and Billups on the likely out category too
Billups has had a very good career thus far, but i think he'd be out...i just think he hasn't had a "Great" career....he's had a very good career...enviable by many, but not great enough
as for Tony Parker....based on his NBA career...even with teh Finals MVP, i'd be hesitant to put him in...but i'd probably have to, when factoring in his international resume
and your use of Ginobili in your list is perplexing.....it seems like ur not even using one set of criteria to determine viability

the future means nothing for this. the question asked was if their careers stopped TODAY, would they be in the hall.

Well I don't consider Mutombo a lock (close to one though) but he definitely doesn't belong in the "likely out" group.. thats pretty outrageous.

My take? As of last season, he hadn't done enough to get in the Hall. By the end of this season, he very well may have done enough.

How? -- I'd think he can eventually get in....
Find me a comparable player in the HOF.

Hall of Fame Probability
Active 0.029 (32)
Career 0.029 (190)
The number of rings he has and the several big shots he hit = overrated when it comes to people even remotely thinking he could get in the Hall. He's never going to get in the HOF as a player. Maybe they'll have a little exhibit about him, but he won't be enshrined.

dirk and nash would be on the bubble, well not necessarily on the bubble, but not elected on their first try... most of the guys you have on the bubble would be a basketball afterthought by the time their eligibility came around, if indeed their careers did end tomorrow.
this is the hall of fame.
