I was actually thinking about this topic the other day. I was looking at the eastern conference standings and realized that Magic were in 3rd ahead of the cavs who have been getting all the hype. It suprised me because if you watch all the sports shows on espn I never hear the Magics name as a threat in the playoffs, it's always like what will Boston, Detroit, Cleveland do. I consider it a good thing though for the magic, i don't even know what lewis brought it up.

Might have something to do with KG talking about the how there are 3 contenders in the East, and Magic weren't one of them.

While I agree Cleveland is being overrated and I love Dwight Howard. LeBron has a lot more importance to his team than Dwight does to us. Orlando can win on a Dwight off night, Cleveland can't win without LeBron. LeBron is more important to his team than any player in the league...possibly ever.
Unfair statement. Dwight has never missed a game. Hard to know how we would do without him if we have never seen it. I have an idea though. It would look like it usually looks when he is on the bench. Not pretty.

lol you're a hawks fan right? Well I'm from Boston and not only would I much much rather play the hawks in the playoffs then the magic, but I beg for you to still be in that eight seed come playoff time cuz it would be a great way to start the playoffs with an easy 4 game sweep.

You can't beat 2 teams during the year and say give us respect. Remember one of those wins against Boston came without KG. Fact is we have had plenty of opportunity to force teams to give us respect and have consistently failed. This is the reality.
We currently have 4 wins against the top 8 teams in the West. One of the wins was a close win in NO without Chris Paul. Another win was beating the Lakers before the Gasol trade. Another win was against Houston with a injured Tmac who didn't play the second half. Then they came back without Tmac and beat us in Houston.
We still have 2 home games to prove ourselves agaisnt 2 of the WC best. NO and San Antonio will be coming to town in the near future. If we were to loose those 2 games we would have went 1-7 at home against the top 8 teams in the WC. With the only win a close game against a Tmac less Rocket team.
Good teams are consistently going into Orlando and winning games. Not only winning them but winning in almost easy fashion. You cant bet your entire season on Detroit and Boston. Detroit swept the Magic a year ago and many feel can turn it on whenever. 1 win against a healthy Boston team is not going to gain you elite status.

I hate you!
But seriosuly why do you always have to point out the negative?
Fact is we have beaten both Boston and Detroit 2 times this year
Fact is we are 3rd in the East ahead of the Cavs
Fact is we have one of the best road records in the league.
Fact is we are going to win our division
Fact is we are going to have home court advantage in the 1st rd
Fact is we are going to have a better record than last year

Orlando gets no respect because they don't have barely playoff experience
That is far from true:
(not counting anyone who hasn't made it out the first round.)
Orlando
Hedo went to conference finals twice with 2 different teams (Kings and Spurs)
Rashard went to the conference semi-finals with the sonics
Mo Evans went to the NBA Finals with the pistons.
Arroyo went to the conference finals with the pistons
Dooling went to the Conference finals with the Heat
Cook went to the NBA Finals with the Lakers.
Tony Battie went to the Conference Finals with the Celtics.
Boston:
KG Conference Finals with wolves
Paul Pierce Conference Finals with Boston
Ray Allen Conference Finals with Bucks
Sam Cassell 2 NBA Rings
PJ Brown Conference Semi-Finals
James Posy NBA Ring
Eddie House Conference Semi-Finals with Suns.
Scott Pollard Conference to Finals with Kings.
Brian Scalabrine Conference finals with Nets.
As you can see the Playoff experience for both teams is about even.

The reason we can win when Dwight has an off night is because Dwight's presence draws attention and frees up Hedo and Rashard. If you take Dwight out all together then the magic will have a hard time scoring. See the start of every 2nd quarter if you want evidence.

True but no one is giving you respect for beating teams without there best player. If the question is why do people not consider Orlanod elite then IMO I just answered. The best teams in the league keep coming to Orlando and getting wins. That doesn't happen to the best teams. Potentially going 0-7 against the top WC playoff teams at home? You don't gain respect beating the teams that no one respects.

It's hard to respect a team that has no power forward and a starting frontcourt thats more suited to the CBA. As a matte rof fact the Southeast division right now is no better than CBA teams. Get out of the first round first, take Boston or detroit to 7 game sin the 2nd round then you get some respect. No one is going to respect you because you signed Lewis to a ridiculous contract. Respect here also includes watching Otis not making a sin;ge move to improve this season while all other teams did?
On another note after having watched a bunch of Suns games I still can't believe that many on here feel better about Evans/at SG as opposed to Grant Hill. It's done now, but imagine a line-up of Grant, Turk and Rashard alongside Dwight. The matchup problems for other teams would be wild.

I was just thinking about that today, while watching the Suns/Spurs game.
Hill/Nelson backcourt (this year's Hill) >> Nelson/Evans-Bogans backcourt. Too bad we didn't still have him. Besides this season, he'd likely give us another 1-2 solid seasons as a starter at the SG position.
(I like Evans though. But Hill...Hill's having a very good year.)

1) How is Orlando front court so horrible? They have one of the highest scoring front courts in the league. Is it traditional? No, but it is no different then the front court that the Suns had when they made their runs out west (two SF with a big man in the middle).
2) what does Rashard's contract have to do with anything? Were talking about getting respect based on the wins orlando has. This has nothing to do with who was signed for what in the off season.
3) You only play teams in you division 20 times out of 82. Orlando has only played Southeast Division teams 10 times and won 8 of those games. So 32 wins came from teams not in the Southeast division, or CBA as you call it.
4) i think Hill needed to go. That chapter just needed to end. No bad feeling toward him but I feel he caused more problems then anything else.
