I think his ceiling would be Brad Miller + more defense and more post moves. I too was hoping minnesota would have grabbed him. Jefferson and Hawes would be a sweet combo.

Brad could be better be he doesn't have much fire in him IMO. From what I've seen Spencer is a little taller, has more length, has more fire, and like you said he's a hard worker. He has more of a work ethic and more poise. I sort of agree with you but to be honest I think if you have Brad Miller and add more defense+a post game he would be way better. He's more of a scorer then Brad for sure. I'm thinking 20/10/2blks isn't impossible somewhere down the line considering he's still only just turned 20.

What will make Hawes great is that he isn't content with simply being the next Miller, he wants to be Duncan.

Well any team can offer him the MLE. There are probably several teams that would, so that should be interesting.

Awesome game from Spencer tonight. Very encouraging to see.

That charge on Cisco was the wrong call, but it was also a stupid play by Cisco.

Very true but honestly, I think if Beno is deciding between the Kings and team B and C each offering the MLE he picks the Kings out of loyalty. Unless there's other factors Im not thinking of why would he choose another team if the dollars are the same?

Well if he can get a starting spot on a better team, I wouldn't blame him for leaving. But I'm too lazy to look into whether or not that could happen right now.

He's already made comments that suggest the Kings have the edge on resigning him. He appreciates the opportunities he's been given in Sacramento and respects Petrie.

I think the ideal offer for both sides would be a 2 year MLE deal with a 3rd year player option. He will have established his Bird rights with us in a couple of years. This deal would give him the opportunity to work a better deal in a couple years.

He said Brad Miller WITH defense and post moves. Thats pretty damn good right there.

As already been said. I've been very surprised with Hawes shot blocking. He had 4 blocks last night.

Congratulations, a well deserved win for you guys. You just outplayed us, it was closing to be a blowout Lakers loss. I hope one day (ASAP) we will meet again in the WCF.

I only got to see two minutes of this game. The score was 100-100 and Spencer got two dunks in a row as I was running out for work. Right then I knew we'd win. Great to see him with that kinda power.

If given playing time Spencer produces and last night was just a taste of what he can do,now im waiting for Shelden to get minutes because of the little time that he has been on the floor he has at least a block in those very short minutes.....The Spencer Shelden duo in the frontcourt can be very promising.....

I really think people underrate Brad Miller. Brad without post moves is a 2 time all-star, Brad with post moves could very well have been a perennial all-star. Lacking that facet of the game really hurt him, still at his best he is a 15, 10, 5 player. Not too shabby.

But as mentioned by Cuel_Ruin, he doesn't want to be the next Miller, he wants to be the next Duncan. I said something before the draft how he reminded me of Duncan a little bit, and for those words to come out of his mouth were very promising words indeed.

He could end up a Vlade type, but I think he is more of a Pau Gasol type. Somewhere in that range.

I really want to see more pick and roll/pop ran with Shelden. His post moves are shaky and the reason why he may be considered a "bust" if the idea that he was going to develop into a franchise big. Fact is though, I see flashes of the "Landlord" here and there. This guy has every chance in the world to be one of the top defenders in the league. He also is the most "powerful" PF we have had in almost a decade.

Hawes = great offense? Shelden = gread defense? Could be a very good combo indeed.

I agree,Shelden although not that smooth yet has shown flashes to be a good defensive big...If ron teaches this kid and learns some of those tricks then we got a nice combo for the future. And he has also shown us that he can hit those elbow jumpers though not that good yet but he has shown us that he can.

Return to Sacramento Kings
