And NO-KG-AI, like I said earlier, no one compares to Howard, but Horford is about as athletic and strong a big man you're going to find in this league. Horford hasn't been pushed around by ANYONE.

I haven't caught many Hawks games this season, but the only time I ever remember Horford really getting handled was against Oden in college

Horford sure got pushed around tonight. Dwight Howard tore through that next great frontline early and often tonight for 26 and 16. He made Horford look like a ragdoll and had him camping on the perimeter the whole night taking ugly jumpers.

I said Dwight was better than both Atlanta big and I hope everyone got a good look tonight so they could find out for themselves.

Well to be somewhat fair, Horford plays out of position and no one realistically expects him to be able to guard Howard effectively... he's not strong or tall enough. His jumper is usually pretty good but was off tonight.

That said, Howard is considerably better than either Horford or Smith, and it should of never been a question, but I do like Horford.

I'm not sold on Noah, but I think Ty Thomas will still be a pretty good pro once he gets a full season of starting minutes.

Horford didn't get pushed around. Howard outplayed him all night, but it wasn't off of brute strength. A lot of Howard's damage came on Zaza too. Howard is better than Horford, but he isn't better than a future combo of Horford and Smith.

Most people disagree and would trade both Hawk bigs for Dwight in a second. It does not matter though because Orlando would laugh Atlanta off the phone if they even tried.

Dwight got anywhere in the post he wanted last night, often times bullying around your boy Horford.

I thought someone would bump this after that game.

Horford got two fouls and sat on the bench the entire 2nd quarter while Dwight Howard abused Zaza Pachulia and Solomon Jones.

No one is arguing the fact that Dwight Howard is better than Horford or Josh Smith.

Argument is that at 21 and 22 Josh Smith and Al Horford both have enough upside where combined they are certainly not worse than Howard.


Al Horford has room to gain 15-20 pounds to make him a more effective C. Josh Smith continues to improve on both sides of the ball

Actually the only thing idiotic would be to suggest that it's not even a possibility.

Based off potential, there are few players in the NBA with more upside than Josh Smith because of how he can change the game on both sides of the court.

He has 20/10/4-5/3 potential.

Certainly that combined with a guy in Horford who could be a 17/11/1 big man equates to an elite big.

haha. you are still delusional and let one game make you think have any reasoning behind your statements. what is orlandos record? what is atlantas record? exactly. replace horford and josh smith with howard and the hawks are a 50 win team.

I'm not sure Smith ever improves his decision making... he's just not very smart and his basketball IQ is on the low end. Horford, OTOH, is incredibly smart and has one of the higher basketball IQs in the league already. He's a great passer for a big and I think down the line he'll morph himself into a Horace Grant type player and be a very integral piece of a dominant team. I love Al and am probably the biggest proponent of his on this board.

That said, I'd still take Dwight 10/10 times on this discussion. He's simply the best rebounder in the world and a physical marvel who's only going to continue to get better.
