Good idea? - NBA Considering Replay Expansion

Ian Thomsen of SI.com has learned the NBA is considering expanding its use of replay.

"The one area that we're exploring is the three-vs.-two shot call near the end of a game,'' said Stu Jackson, the executive VP of basketball operations for the NBA.

"We're talking about expanding it for some period at the end of the game when there's a natural break in the action, vis-a-vis a timeout or something along those lines,'' Jackson said. "Where a coach could make a challenge, and/or a referee could conduct a review.''

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

im cool with it as long as it yields the correct turnout...the last thing we want is a bunch of reviews that end up like Foyle's tip...they took forever to review that and in many peoples eyes it wasn't accurate...there would need to be a 3rd party involved to make judgments unanimous, like the booth or something...

if the play is ruled for the Magic or against them I wont care as long as it's the right call...if your going to do it, there has be >.1% doubt otherwise it will just cause more problems...

I agree they should make some sort of expansion of it as long as it is fair and doesn't disrupt the flow of the game.

totally agree........and when in doubt they can just use the NFL's "inconclusive evidence" to overturn the call

I'm down, but that doesn't stop the gambling refs from screwing us over.

Such a good idea. The NBA can take the challenge/ review a play from the NFL and maybe both teams only get 2 chances to challenge or something. And I watched that Foyle tip in like literally 100 times in my DVR and it was still in his hands, sorry to say but it was the right call guys

Thank god. Maybe they will actually enforce a 24 second rule on Lebron.

I don't see a problem with it as long as it comes at the end of the game, or even at the end of any quarter. It shouldn't have to be a coaches challenge though. It should come automatically from the scorers table or the refs themselves. Ideally we want the right call to be made, and I don't want a coach to use it as a tactic to take the other team out of their rhythm or stop a fast break opportunity. It sounds like they are worried about that aspect too, so it doesn't appear there would be an issue with that. I don't understand why it takes so long, even in the nfl. You either see it or you don't.

I'll agree, until the moment it costs the Magic a win. Then I'll complain about it.

I personally won't be satisfied until a coach can challenge any play that precedes a dead ball.

I don't want to get into scenarios where a player is stripped, guy takes it all the way for a dunk, coach challenges that saying his guy was fouled, and now we're dealing with taking a basket away. No. I just mean, if a play happens, and the whistle blows, and you think you got screwed, I'd like to be able to let the replay decide.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

As long as it's not a Patrick Sparks redux every time, it sounds fine.
